I feel the difference between the 31s and the 35's, no doubt. I don't know if you ever had a 1500 with a Hemi but if you did, remember when you got off your Hemi and drove the Cummins the first time? If you're like me you punched it expecting you to throw you back in your seat like the Hemi did but it didn't. At the end of the day you knew the Cummins had more power and could be faster even though it didn't "feel" like it. THAT'S the difference I felt putting the big tires on.
Do I still like my truck, hell yeah!
Is it a slow dog, hell no!
You punch that Cummins and even with the big tires the truck still feels very powerful. I want to make my truck faster now. I already took it for a "faster" estimate and the shop I spoke to did some research and told me the ECU coding hasn't been broken yet and the only way to get a full tune on a '13 right now is to ship the ECU out for $1,100 and then the Bullydog tuner could handle the tune. He said "I would wait 6-12 more months until they can break the ECU coding and you'll save yourself some money". While that wasn't the answer I wanted to hear, that shop just earned ALL of my performance business. He could have very well sold me a package just to make the sale and he didn't. He said he's doing whatever he wants to 2012's all day long right now so you are in a much better position than I'm in to boot when you switch tires. I think I'll keep my 3.42's because I think it will pull my 35 foot trailer just fine. I'll know for sure next week when I pull it to Alabama (about 700 miles).
What gears are you going with?
