Good day all... I am new to the RAM world... i just picked up a 2011 black ram sport CC.. and well... after reading 20+ pages of lifting information.. I have noticed everyone is going after the zone lift.. I have always used RC on my stuff and never had any problems... so a couple questions if ya'll have the time...

1. besides the rear spring and selectable size with the zone.. why does every think it is better.. what components are different...

2. if you have the RCX 4" lift.. did you get 5.5 like I have seen in different trucks..

3. I have a 2.75 rake.. im not looking for dead level i actually still want a .5-1" forward rake.. are the zone lifts accurate with their numbers.. is the rcx?

4. I have also noticed that a bunch of lifts have said not suggested with awd rams.. my sport has a auto 4x4 selection to it and not just 4h/4l.. is this an issue?

5. I am leaning towards the 4" lift right now and am going to run 35x12.50s on the stock 20s... i have seen some people say it fits and some say it wont.. whats the deal with that?

any help would be awesome...

I'll try and help. I might get some things wrong but someone can correct me!
1. Main difference is that RC uses a spacer up front whereas Zone uses a new stock tower and gas shocks. This is better

2. No 4" is 4". It'll be a 4" front lift and maybe a 2" rear lift. Some guys stack a body lift on to get the 5.5" of lift.

3. Not sure if their numbers are correct. For zone 6" lift you have 2 choices. 3" rear or 5" rear lift. 3 is dead level and 5 gives you a rake. I'm sure their numbers are the same accuracy for the 4" from zone.

4. Zone and RC will both work with your truck. I haven't seen this, only that they aren't applicable with 2wd trucks.

5. Some say it will fit, on my truck even with my 1.5" spacers I had to do some trimming so the tires would turn without rubbing. Go with a 1.5" spacer, It'll look aggressive and then you can keep your stocks. I loved my stock longhorn wheels so I bought spacers. Don't cheap out though, buy the best! BORA makes the best spacers out there. Lifetime warranty and they're rated to 30,000 lbs. They're also hub centric which is a big deal! I think they ran me $300 CAD shipped. Or something close to that.

Here's the stance:

I'm running a 5" lift. Your's would be 1" shorter. I have a 1" rake so this can give you an idea of what you'll look like.

Both kits are almost identical component wise. As you mentioned the 3" rear coils with the Zone kit are a much better option than the spacers that come with the RCX kit. RCX also doesn't powdercoat their steering knuckles so they will rust in no time if you don't paint or powdercoat them yourself. Zone does powder coat everything.

A Zone 4" kit is exactly 4" of lift. It's the 6" kits that are actually 5.5" of lift.

If you want to retain a little bit of rake get the Zone 4" kit with 3" rear coils and Bilstein 5100's set at 0.7". That will leave you with almost exactly 1" of rake. Setting the Bilsteins to 1.4" would have your truck looking dead level.

As xrsman said you won't have any issues with either kit in regards to the 4wd.

You will need at least 10mm spacers to run 35x12.5's on stock wheels. However you can go larger like xrsman said which will give you a wider stance and look better IMO. BORA is the only way to go spacer wise as they make true hub centric spacers that are great quality. Lenny (the owner of Motorsport Tech) is a Ram guy and great to deal with. He'll make sure you get setup with exactly what will work for you.

To the OP, thanks for asking about the AWD question. I too was wondering about this because when in AUTO mode, the manual says that we can expect lower fuel economy in Auto 4WD mode because the front axle is engaged. I use the AUTO a lot during the winter, and I'm in AUTO for weeks at a time, so your AWD question is one I've been wondering about, since I've seen many kits that specifically say "Not for AWD Trucks".

Off-topic:
@xrsman- If you don't mind me asking, what wheels are those on your truck? And what offset are they? Your truck looks good.

Thanks man! They're just the stock Longhorn wheels. I have 1.5" wheel adaptors though so it sticks them out!

@xrsman- Well, they look good. If you get a chance, could you measure the height of your truck? From ground to roof. I am wanting to make sure I can still fit in my garage.

Thank you. I'm now trying to figure out why your truck measures 2-3" taller, than a 2013 with 6" Mopar Lift Kit (actually made by Rough Country) and 36" Terra Grapplers... that measured right at 80".

My garage door opening is exactly 83.25". So not much room for error. LOL

Thanks tho... you really helped me out.

I am curious about the brand and height of your tires. I'm guessing 36inch tires?

Somewhere on here I remember someone installing a lift inside of a garage and then having to take the garage door off and deflate the tires to get the truck out after the lift haha.

Thanks for the input guys... I am going to pull the trigger when I get back from FL at the end of the month.. Im stationed in NJ right now..

As of right now I am leaning on the zone 6" but at the same time I am looking at the rcx 4" and will put a body lift in later.. either way I would want to paint the lifts red.. or a dark metallic blue.. haven't decided that yet.. but either way both will get painted..

There isn't an awd on trucks. They're either 2wd or 4wd. That being said there are 2 types of lifts, 2wd lifts and 4wd lifts. Most lifts are made for 4wd trucks so 9 out of 10 times the lift will work on your 4wd. Since lifting a 2wd is rare most companies don't offer a lift for 2wd trucks.

The main difference between awd and 4wd is that awd is always on, you cannot turn it off. 4wd can be turned on and off. I'm not sure where you saw awd, but trucks don't use that system. Just cars and some SUVs

Well yeah I mean I understand what awd is and what it does, i just called it that for a lack of a better way to say it... Im not really new to trucks and lifts and what not just new to the ram. Mine has 4 selections for 4x4.. 2/4 auto/4h and 4l.. i just called the 4 auto selection awd.. the zone and rcx both say don't not recommended on awd.. i was just wondering if that was what they were referring to.

who ever has the zone.. does the rear end with the spring replacements ride the same.. more stiff.. less stiff.. does it squat more loaded?

as of right now I am looking am favoring the zone 6"/3".. its right at teh top of my price range but at the same time.

sorry for the awful typing skills.. my 8 month wanted to sit in my lap and help..

Hmm, well I'd what they mean by awd but on both sites they say for 4wd models, so I'd say you're good to go lol

The mopar lifts are made by superlift. And every truck is different when it comes to measurements
