Tinting the inside of the windshield that has the factory black dots on it.When I got my windows tinted the guy said that if I tint over the black dots on the factory windshield it wouldn't stick and would come off in a matter of days.Has anyone tinted over their factory windshield with the dots and did it stay?

Same here. Have had mine tinted since 2016 with no problems. Had to replace windshield recently and will be having it tinted again.

Sounds like you might want to try a different person to tint your windows. Mine's been tinted for 2 years no issues.

It might “bubble” years from now but not in a matter of days. My 03 has 35% on the entire windshield and was installed probably 10 years ago with no problems. I’ve seen some bubble up and others not. I’m not a window tinter but I think it depends on the quality of the install imo.

Had mine done with ceramic not to long after buying it. Make sure you use a quality tint shop that uses good tint sounds like your current buy isnt up to the task.

I have mine tinted and yes you DO NOT want to have those covered by tint, that is what is called the 3rd visor frit and because of the texture of it the tint can detach itself from the windshield.

You usually just cut around it and it's fine ....

I got my first truck more than 20 years ago. Of the five vehicles I've had since then I've ALWAYS had tint up past the dots on the front windshield and I've NEVER had a problem.

no issue on my 2014 thats been tinted for 5 years and the 17 for a year also . Tinted both myself so I didn't have to get the soccer mom excuses for a sales pitch about not covering the matrix .

I just wear sunglasses [emoji2369]

But seriously, it shouldn’t be an issue. Try a different place or just tell the guy to “try it” and that you won’t hold him accountable

Was about to ask this but found this thread. Is the purpose of the black dots at top of windshield supposed to be some sort of visor? My 99 pickup had the tint where it faded into clear and worked nicely at shielding the sun. What I have I have on my 19 does nothing. I would get entire windshield tinted but in Louisiana you can only come down 5 inches (above the AS-1 line).

The black dots used to be on every fixed window quarter windows and back glass on almost every car back in the day. (90's) Tint and vinyl have come a long way technology wise. We used to use stuff called dot matrix because the tint would always lift up and cause that annoying ring around the perimeter. Most tint shops offer lifetime warranties on the film they are using so if it did lift up (which I doubt if installed properly) they could/should re do it at no charge. I have tinted a lot of cars the dots on the rams windshield are not an issue.
