yeah, its a DD - but they make a comparable model in a single din that would fit your truck.

Yeah I had the previous version of that one, and I paid a lot more than that for it. I guess I'll stick with what I have for now.

double din is the way to go. a little cutting never hurt any one. jeremy i have a 640 gig external hdd i picked up at best buys for 79.99, toshiba brand. i have the usb port on the back of mine so i plugged it in. it wouldnt read all the folders and was kind of a pain in the ass to navigate compared to using the ipod. i may have just had the hdd set up wrong? for the HU to read it properly but all of my computers read it fine. who knows i need to do some googleizing to see if there is an answer. also did you have to buy the 12v to 5v to charge the iphone? i know mine is an older version but just curious. one more thing for you alpine fans is that alpine makes an amp that is strickly plug and play no power or ground wires needed to be ran and it produces 45-50 w rms. you can pick them up on ebay for around 100.00.

I like doing the stuff, and I like wiring it all up myself...I just hate having to pay for it each time.

I want to upgrade the HU but that may have to wait a while. I want to get a bigger amp which might come first.

I am VERY tempted to pick up that amp that plugs directly to the back of this one - run it for the doors. I could then sell my 700.5 and get a dedicated amp for sub. Maybe a 500.1 or who knows..........

I need to look into that Alpine amp and see how it hooks up. :D

oh.......other thing? I think most of these HUs only read from FAT drives, not NTFS. I tried with my 250GB portable HDD, no go. And yeah, the way it reads from the USB drive SUCKS. I think I'll just go with a dock of some sort.......someway........

and, it charges my iphone - no issues.

I think my concern is that my setup isn't a simple 4 channel setup. On my 08, simple - I would have nabbed the amp at that time. With this one all of the wires run to the factory amp and out from there. From what I have assumed in staring at the wiring diagrams, the door speakers are not amped, and the wiring harness from the back of the HU to the hook it up to the factory **** only hooks up 2 channels. Its goofy as ****.
