I have a 2012 Ram 1500. Basic radio and audio. I'd like to do upgrades but stay on the OEM side of things.
I was able to get my hands on the 430 radio with bluetooth button and I got my hands on a BT module as well. Unfortunately I didn't do my research and I've found out I can buy the wire harness/mic, or the "BT Kit". What sucks is the wire harness/mic by itself costs almost as much as the whole kit (which is basically the wire harness and BT module). So that install has been delayed while I decide if I wanna pay out the ***** just to add BT. I like OEM and don't want to go aftermarket although at this point it would probably cost less and give a better quality radio, output, and BT. Any opinions would be helpful.
Also, I managed to get my hands on some alpine components. I got the 4 6x9 door speakers, the sub with box, and the alpine amp required for the system. I'm wondering if any of it can be useful to me. I know the alpine system has 9 speakers and I'm not looking to get them. I'm wondering if what I did manage to get can be used? Can I change the current 6x9's with the alpines or do the alpine 6x9's have different specs (impedance and ohms or whatever)? And do they "require" the amp to sound right?
My plan was to keep everything as OEM as possible and do it cheaply. I got all of the above for a great price but I'm realizing now that wiring harnesses cost a lot more than I thought they would. I'd be fine with adding the new radio, amp, sub and 4 6x9s but I'm wondering if I should just sell it all because the work and costs to get it running wouldn't be worth it?
Thoughts?
Essentially, my primary concern is getting an OEM radio with bluetooth. I value that more than improving the sound with new hardware. But, I'm trying to think long term and things I might want down the road. At some point I'd love a OEM radio and I'd add a line output converter (AudioControl LC8i) to add outboard amps to the factory audio system then buy all new speakers and a sub.
I need opinions on all this though. Any help would be appreciated.
