Any iPod will work. The end of the chord that pluges into the iPod itself will be iPod specific, but the end that plugs into the truck will be simple USB.

Thats the thing. The cord coming out in the glove box is designed to fit that end only and its an i pod 30 pin but the other end isnt usb i think its a 16 pin connector directly to a wire harness in the back. So it has to be an ipod i just know that i tried an ipod touch once and it came up comm err on the truck. So i think the truck will only recognize certain generations of ipod, im wondering if anyone knows?
or if they got the same set up what ipod they used?

hmmm... ok, I though the truck only had a USB port. In any case, any 30 pin iPod SHOULD work. Try the generation that was around in 2010?

I have a 2nd Gen iPod mini 4 GB that worked fine, but my wife's iPhone 5s wouldn't. Not sure what radio you have, (i installed an RHB), but I ended up getting the uConnect module out of a 2011 with the USB connector, did the software update and now her's works fine and mine doesn't. I can live with that, I have more than 4 GB worth of songs anyways I just copied to the hard drive. Try a google search for "uconnect xsdbs". He has a ton of posts, mostly on jeep forums, regarding the uconnect system. A ton of reading to do, but he is a wealth of knowledge.
