I have a 2002 Ram 1500 with the 5.9L gas engine. was thinking about a programmer and am wondering if anyone thinks it might be worth getting. money is not really an issue, id just hate to waste it if its not going to really do anything. Maybe trying to get a little more power or be able to gain a little in the MPG department. Any particular one that you recommend? brand? Pros and cons? i dont want it to give me an issues down the road or anything. heard of them throwing the engine light on and codes? not sure. thanks for your advice!

I'm wanting to buy one too, someone please chime in who has experience with tunes. "Really woke up my truck" isn't a lot of feedback in my book.
For you a Superchips (3865 or better) will make a noticeable difference. There is hp bump you can feel, but where it will shine for you is trans tuning, you can custom tune the programming on your trans to shift how you want it to, not the sh!tty factory program. Plus all tuners are code readers/resetters (always a bonus).
