So I've been noticing this for a while but today I really noticed it. While going up a hill I had my cruise set at 45 but the speed dropped below 40 until the top of the hill when my rpm went up and my speed got back up to 45. In comparison my R/T would maybe drop below the set speed by 1 or 2 mph but almost instantly the rpm would go up and it would maintain set speed or even go above set speed a little. Is my cruise control messed up? Or is it due to the different torque converter, gears, transmission tune, wheel and tire size, and extra weight on the new truck vs the R/T?

I would say its the different setup on the new truck and nothing to do with the cruise.

Why do you set cruise at 45? that seems to me a traffic speed and should not be running the cruise anyways

Hopefully. Just don't want to be having issues already. And I always set the truck in cruise when I can to get a little better mpg since I have a heavy foot lol. Lowest I set it is 30 mph especially by the school zones so I don't get pulled over for speeding

It's just the different gears
Your truck doesn't really have the pull up torque that your old one did so it has a hard time holding that speed at grade without kicking down

I always set cruise control at 45, it's all rural roads around me with 45 moh spew limits and I honestly don't go over the speed limit anymore haha

If you take a bit of a run at hills you could probably go d te right spot at 50-55 mph where the truck could hold its speed ongrade

My 4.7 can't hold a set speed unless its got tailwind. I always drops prolly 6-10 mph before it down shifts and takes off again. But whatever. Ever have cruise control set and go down a big hill? The truck will down shift to try to keep it at speed. I think that is cool as **** lol. New technology jeez

A new hemi truck shouldn't do that, gearing or not. These trucks have alot of power... so that seems very odd. Mine wont drop more than 1-3 mph below before it drops a gear and surges back to speed.

How big is the hill?
