I have a 2020 Ram 3500 6.7 S.O.. I have been using Baldwin oil & fuel filters exclusively since it was new. I found this on ebay and was wondering if it is legit and a good deal. this is roughly half the price of the Baldwins.

My self I would not trust this new seller, their account has 4 negatives, 2 neutrals out of 29 sales and the price is way to low for genuine OEM parts... I buy from Genos Garage yes they cost more at Genos but then I do not have to worry if they are China knock off's that will Void FCA warranty.. OK thanks...read all the reviews, the 4 negatives were for unrelated other replacement parts not filters. Seems the filter kits they are selling are actual Mopar filters and have all good reviews. I don't need anything right now but was looking into the future. Last I checked Geno's, everything was backordered. I may just stick with my local supplier of Baldwins.

When I looked at Geno's earlier in July the rear frame mount fuel filter was backordered. I'm not stupid, I am well aware of what could happen using cheap No Name Chinese knockoff filters possibly packaged in Mopar boxes, you would never know. At the same time you can not tell me with 100% certainty that Geno's Mopar filters are not sourced from the same supplier as the ebay seller. You trust in Geno's reputation, just like I trust my local supplier of Baldwins, which is where I will probably continue buying.

I used Baldwin fuel filters in my 06 for 12 years but not my 22, to the best of my knowable along many others more knowledgeable me that Baldwin fuel filters do not meet the Mopar/Cummins aka OEM filtering requirements and yes I trust Genos they have been in business for 26 years...

I would stay away from it because it's being produced and shipped from China. The quality control won't be up to the same standards as the made-in-USA stuff, and who knows if it's legit. Plus the seller rating is only in the high 80s. I agree with the guys above, if you have a reliable supplier you trust, as much as it sucks to spend the extra money your truck will be better served.

The Baldwin filters I have been using so far are manufactured in the USA. I don't mind spending the money but if I could get "genuine" Mopar parts for less I would be willing to at least investigate it.

Well said. Skimping on Oil Quality, or Filter (oil/air/fuel) quality can jump up and bite you on the posterior, IMHO...

That's a good point most parts are manufactured overseas, I guess you could research to see where Mopar is manufacturing where and make a judgment call. Personally, with international sellers on eBay, I would be hesitant. Good point though!

No doubt Baldwin makes good filters but the 2019+ engines use the patented Nanonet fuel filters and to the best of my knowledge no one else makes a nanonet fuel filter or one that meets the specs of the Nanonet filter, using any other filter but the Nanonet will void your fuel system warranty... FYI if you take the time you can find the Fleetguard Nanonet FS5300 cheaper then Mopar 68157291AA...

I contacted Baldwin via email and that initial email with their response is attached. I have since asked for a more technical and detailed answer giving me actual filtering specs and how they achieved their meet or exceed OEM spec statement.

This is the follow up email from Baldwin. I had sent another of the page from the owners manual showing the Ram/Cimmins spec for fuel filtration for both the engine mounted and frame mounted filters.

When we develop a new filter to replace a new OEM filter, we purchase the OE filter and analyze the media per square inch to select a media of our that meets the performance of the OEM media. Current ISO test procedures do not accurately count particles smaller that 4 micron. Therefore, is someone is rating their filter at a micron rating smaller than 4 micron, it is an estimation and not a tested value. The PF46108 has an efficiency of 99.85% at 4 micron (98.7% and higher is an absolute rating).



The media we use in the PF46152 is a 5 micron absolute media.

Q is the Baldwin a duel filter like the Nanonet? Based on the reply you received Baldwin does not claim that their fuel filter meets Cummins Specification what ever it may be. Myself I do not have enough information to make the claim like you have that Cummins Nanonet technology is a bunch of BS...
As I understand what I was told the under the hood filter is a duel filter, the outer part of the filter is 5 micron water block, the inner filters at 3 micron, is that 100% true I have no idea, but I also do not have $20\K laying around just in case by using a non specification fuel filter FCA voids my fuel system warranty, yes it would be nice to save $$$ but I am not willing to risk it...

Again Baldwin states they meet or exceed OEM spec and the Fleetgaurd Nanonet technology only filters down to 4 microns as stated below and Fleetgaurd is Cummins filter brand. The only thing that Nanonet is , is a Cummins/Fleetgaurd registered catch phrase to make you think you are getting something special.
You can purchase whatever you feel comfortable with but the fact is that 4 microns is 4 microns no matter who is measuring it. If someone is stating that spec is tighter, then Cummins own filters do not meet spec for their engines.

Nothing wrong with Baldwin, may be better than mopar. However, you could check with Benny at mopar parts, a forum vendor with a good rep on the forum as well as good pricing.
