I've owned my 2012 6.7l Ram 2500 for close to 6 years now and ever since I bought it the wipers only work while washing the windshield and on the last two speed settings (fast and really fast). Although we don't get much rain here in California this is something that has always bothered me. It would be nice to have the other wiper speeds for driving in heavy mist/fog and light rain. I pulled apart the wiper motor and cleaned all of the contacts really well and regressed the moving parts. I also bought a brand new Mopar multifunction switch thinking the problem was there. Still no luck. I also have OBDlink and AlfaOBD if there's something I could mess with in there. If you have any ideas I'd love to hear your 2 cents. Thanks.

Does it do anything in intermittent mode? Ie. wipe constantly like in low speed mode? or wipe a couple of intermittent times and then wipe constantly?

It'll run one full wipe cycle then nothing as if the wipers are off. Happens throughout all the intermittent speeds. After seeing a dude with a 3rd Gen have a very similar issue I ended up ordering a reman wiper motor.

UPDATE: I fixed it! After replacing the multifunction switch and wiper motor with no luck. I ended up going into AlfaOBD and disabled auto sensing wipers. Checking the build sheet my truck wasn't equipped with auto sensing wipers but for what ever reason they were enabled according to AlfaOBD. I simply disabled them and the intermittent wipers started working.

Good deal, you fixed any hardware issues & software was the issue
Wonder if your hardware is still useable ?

Wow. That's an obscure issue, few would figure out. Or so I guess. The things I learn on this site continuously amazes me.

Haha, how did that get changed? I wouldn't have thought of that being the problem since you didn't mention that you were using alphaobd - honestly probably wouldn't of thought of it if you had mentioned it :)

Luckily I was able to return the wiper motor. My old multifunction switch was a bit worn out and the lettering was starting to fade I'm not bummed about having a new one.

My guess would be the p/o took it into the dealer for maintenance/warranty work and they ended up flashing the BCM. My local Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealership has a pretty bad rep of fixing things until they're broken.

I was having the same intermittent wiper issue after replacing my stock radio with an Android upgrade. After reading about the alpha OBD I went in and checked the Android OBD settings and found that the default under a setting called "rain induced rain" was set to open by default. I changed it to off and my intermittent wipers started working correctly.
