Well you guys were right. I have to remove the driver side header today to put a dent in it.

Just took it for a spin. Jesus christ it's sounds mean.

Would you mind posting up a pic from a bit further back so I can make heads or tails of it? I figure I'll probably dimple mine before the install to so I don't have to do rework. I hate rework.

BTW, thanks for all the pics you've posted so far.

Trial fit the drivers side and mark where the lower steering knuckle is closest to the front tube, then dimple the tube.Just hang the header on 2 bolts for the trial fit,you don't even have to really tighten them, then eyeball the tube. If you have access to a press it does the best job for making the dimple, alot of guys heat the tube to dimple it,but if your ceramic coated I personally think a press is alittle better for wear and tear on the coating. Put your dipstick tube in probably at the same time you slide the header into place, you'll never get it back in place if the bolts are in.You want to be able to move the header around while fighting the dipstick tube back in,after the tube is in,you'll probably have to heave like a sum-***** to get the first bolt started, once you get a couple bolts started, bend the tube for a little clearance,i'd recommend having the dipstick in the tube when you bend it,and don't bend it much,it has a habit of kinking,i know, lol.

Sounds like I might be making a call to Lokar. I know someone just did this recently. Any idea how long it needs to be?

Well that was a pain in the ****. even called JBA and they told me my motor mounts might be sagging, they also said they have never had a complaint of the headers hitting.. WTF ?

Anyways I beat the **** out of it and dented the tube. I also made a copper RTV sandwich with 2 gasket at the collector. (RTV gasket RTV gasket RTV ), No more leaks...lol...

So getting pre coated headers is a tremendous waste of money, My driver side is now chipped . Yeah !

Here is a nice view of my dipstick relocation... hehehehehe

well just did a 200km trip and i'm blown away, I can't believe my fuel consumption went down on the highway :) im sitting at 13.5L/100 i was at 15L/100 before the header install, 180 stat with MDS on.

I wish I could say the same for city driving...lol... But im still loving the sounds and im flooring my truck...hehehehe

And on cruise at 100km/h the rumble is actually almost non existent. as well my engine temps are staying steady.

Oil 188 F
Coolant 178 F
Oil Pressure 53 psi.
Trans 141 F

CEL's for the rear 02 sensors turned on..lol . so those NoN-Foulers didnt do ****. !

Give it a little more time and let us know if your mileage comes back to normal or increases.

The Butt Dyno noticed some good gains, Just waiting on HEMIFEVER to send me my tune now :) That should make it even better.

The small dent and dipstick relocation is childsplay. and the dent does not affect HP whatsoever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azPKIjxmmdU

Now time to go find a ecoboost to race ... lol...

Time to thread jack real quick...

I have never gone back and had hemifever update my tune, I just have his 91 tune. But I have added 4.56 gears and a throttle body since then. Would It be worth it to have him update it?

Your loss of fuel milage could be due to your engine dumping extra fuel with your downstream o2 sensor not being there. Did the hemifever tune cure the problem?

Well well, just did the exact same trip but this time I had the HEMIFEVER tune. Granted it was only 14 outside.

I got 11.8L /100 that's a 1.7L/100 improvement.

So Headers alone improved my fuel consumption but the Tune made it better with no CEL's

I go back to work this week in stop and go traffic I can't wait to see what improvements are made.

I'm installing my JBA's right now on my gravel driveway because my shop isn't done and I can't wait any longer. Fun fun.

Quick question. What did you do with the factory Y as far as removing it? Did you unbolt it and man handle it off, or did you use a sawmill and cut it? I know I have to cut the pipe at some point to put the JBA Y on, but I don't want to cut it too short. Any help you can give me would be much appreciated.

I got it figured out. Oil dipstick fit like a glove, rerouted the shift cable, dimpled the driver side header by the steering shaft, and wrapped the driver side header where it came close to anything meltable. All done. Now i just need to upload the tune and take her for a spin.

FYI, for anyone who is planning on doing this in the future, headers go on first, naturally. Get them good and tight so you won't have any leaks, and then prepare to fight the JBA Y-pipe. The flanges don't quite line up perfectly by my standards. Double gasketing the flanges will help prevent leaks, like what OP did.
