Running 100 rms to each dash speaker. There is ZERO comparison between the infinity Kappa perfect 300M and JL C2 350X 3.5” dash speaker. With the infinitys in the dash, it sounds like i replaced the JLs with the factory speakers.
If your looking for a great dash speaker for less than $150 and plan on amplifying them, these Infinitys cant be beat. Paid $110 shipped for them open box on ebay.
Way more surface area than the JLs.
Had to cut two mounting ears off of the infinitys, and cut the plastic nipple off of the dash mounting area, took 5 minutes with a wafer wheel on a grinder (A dremel will work too).

Looks like someone needs a Cabin Air Filter. Nice review though.

Looks like that's as big a speaker as you could fit. Glad it turned out well.

Yeah I give props to the guys running audio frog 4” midranges. I have no idea how they got them to fit, would entail a lot of trimming and cutting of the plastic dash mounting area. My 3.5” infinitys barely fit. Still cant believe how much better these infinitys sound than the JLs i replaced them with. Wish i would have bought the Infinitys in the first place.
At least now I can add one of my JLs to the middle of the dash, just need to figure out how to power it. Either gonna run it off of my alpine 18 rms radio (JLs are only 25 rms) or run it on one of my rockford amp channels powering my infinitys. Not sure if that will make one infinity sound louder than the other.

These are the options for powering a third center speaker. Since the alpine 3.5” is only 25 rms I am thinking it would be best to just run it off of my radio.

you're running a fully amplified system now so I don't think you need or will gain with the centre speaker. Only benefit I see is the hands free phone might sound better with it assuming the head unit is set up for a centre.

Yea I think putting a lesser quality speaker in the middle would only take the sound quality down a notch.

Don't think it is worth it for a little more volume

Not really an apples to apples comparison as they both serve two completely different purposes... but glad you like them.

Which speakers are you running in your front doors? Just out of curiosity. Thanks!!!

I was just throwing around the idea of a center channel speaker since i now have two extra JLs. I will probably sell them now that I dont have a use for them. They would be good to replace the factory dash speakers with only if the owner doesnt plan on amplifying them.

Now i just need to figure out how to turn down the bass with my alpine EQ and crossover. Its pretty advanced and complicated. Too much bass going to my components and rear rockford power 3 way 6x9s.

Crossovers with steep slopes.

The biggest thing is in the second to last photo. Change the HPF to 80 and slope as high as it goes (prob 18 or 24). Repeat this for the Rear HPF as well.

Also a contributing factor is you are significantly boosting 63hz. I would dial that back a bit. I know you are after volume, but some of the best advice I have received is never boost but to cut around a peak.

The FS of the mid bass x2 should be the LL roll off for the cross over setting for the sub

The FS of the mids x2 should be should be the HL roll off off the mid bass driver and roll on setting for the mid range driver

The FS of the tweeter x2 should be the HL roll off of the mid driver

Tweeter should roll on there as well to the top
Not sure if this makes sense ?
I am not really up on this
Got this from reading up on it
Hopfully someone who knows chimes in and can shed some light on this

Never heard of those rules, but still seem pretty general to me. Either way it is probably getting a little more advanced then needed at the moment.

Any idea what FS means? Im going to try adjusting things tomorrow with you guys suggestions. I ended up pulling the whole dash out and running a wire from my alpine radio to the center dash speaker, and put one of my JL audio 3.5’s there. The silk done tweeters on the JL 3.5s arent actually bad. Dash needed to be pulled anyway so i could run the wire to the top of the center dash speaker cover for my alpine GPS. Wow what a job pulling the dash was! Took damn near all day! I had to remove like 40 screws. Passenger air bag was what made it a pain in the ass to remove.
