i just bought a set of pacesetter long tubes and y pipe, my stock ones are leaking (i think warped) so it was cheaper to go this way and ive been looking for an excuse to buy them. i didnt get cats, do i need to?? or can i run it without them? will it hurt anything if i do? im guna get some magnaflow hi flows soon but, i had to order two blaster piston kits today too, so didnt have the money to get them today. and i need to get it put on before i mess somthin up. im guna put the o2s back in it and just raise the back one up for now so it doesnt trip my light.

I ran without cats for about a year. Everyone said you'll loose some Lowend power. I didn't notice any lose when I put the headers and y pipe on. Probably due to the added power. But I did notice a little more Lowend grunt when I had the cats put back on(MF hiflows). I ran with nonfowlers and only had the CEL come on a couple times. Reset it and was good to go. So long story short no you don't have to run cats. If you have emission insection you will need them. And the smell is overwhelming at stops.

My personal advise, run a cat.

1: They smooth out your exhaust tone nicely.
2: They are federally mandated.
3: In many states, they qualify as your muffler, so you don't need one
4: Did I mention exhaust tone?

Oh yea, and you won't throw codes with cats.

They are a different size pipe than the collectors on the pacesetters.

You can have a muffler shop open them up to 3" and reuse them.

When I did this swap I sold the stockers and got enough to buy two high flows and had cash left over. Plus the high flows already had bungs so I could just thread in my wideband without the hassle of welding in a ****.

Which high flows did you go with. I just got my wideband sensor but haven't put it in yet. I may need to put my cats back on and if I do having a **** for the wideband would be a good idea

Magnaflow high flow cats with dual bungs. Use the front on the driver's side for my wideband and the rear bungs on both cats for my rear o2 sensors. It saved me some welding so I thought it was worth it.

my friend works at a salvage yard hes guna ask his boss if hell buy them, they stopped cuz people were cutting them off cars and going to sell them. but thats what i was guna do is have them flared out to fit for now. and are the gaskets that come with the headers paper? i read somwhere that they are, and nobody around me has or can get the metal ones except the dealer and im not goin over there. autozone said they could get some ceramic coated gaskets, and a double wall with i think a metal mesh inside?? would either of those be any good or last?

or would these be better? Graphite-impregnated facing. Steel expanded metal core. Superior tensile strength. Resists cracking. Withstands intense heat. Resists deteriorating. Anti-stick properties. Easy removal for disassembly.

Go to the dealer and get the stockers or order them online. Then you know they will work. I've run them for years without any leaks or issues.

ok im getting the gaskets from the dealer, theyre 60. are the bolts that come with it any good? and do i need to do anything else while im doing this? i read that i should change the t-stat too?! that it makes then run lean, will it just be lean with the stock program or if i have a tuner will that correct the issue?

I'm a big fan of 6.1 header bolts because they have thread locker already applied. The ones that come with will work, but I would get some high temp thread locker or a lock washer on them.

I wouldn't use locktite on the header bolts. The heads are aluminum. I used stage 8 locking headr bolts with anti seize on them.
