Paid the truck off in June. Potentially totaled in July by a 17 year old young girl driver who has been driving for a month. Said she received a text, veered onto the other side of the road where my truck was parked and took out my driver side, head on.

Built this truck up slowly and added just enough parts to get it how I wanted it. Was looking forward to not having a truck payment for a few years. Bought the lift and suspension parts from @Nick@GotExhaust and @Quick_Shifter added the lift and extended brake lines and it honestly drove like a Cadillac, smooooth... His work is outstanding!

I guess I'll know if it can be fixed this upcoming week. I hope it can.IMG_0978.jpegIMG_0979.jpegIMG_0980.jpegIMG_0981.jpegIMG_0982.jpeg

Thats unfortunate and always the way!.. It doesnt look to bad as long as the frame is not damaged.. It looks like it basically grabbed the wheel and ripped the control arm/axle they break fairly easy hoepfully its fixable its a nice truck also dont be afraid to push back at insurance they try to total things very easy.

All for a text! SMH I'm willing to wager not enough will be done to her for her actions. Beautiful truck you made. I hope for you that the truck can be brought back to equal of what you have done to it if not better. Like jws123 said, don't let the insurance co. put the screws to you. We work hard to pay our property off. Good luck.

Sad news Boss, hopefully it works out man.

I got in 3 accidents my fault when I was 16, and none since as a man in his 60's. I love to say hate this girl, but just forgive her hopefully she learned from it. These freak'n cell phones, just next level stupid.

Most unfortunant ... similarity is I had paid off my truck a few months earlier before my accident.
Imo, it should have been totaled out, but insurance paid out to put my truck back together on a new frame.
Important thing is you weren't in your truck where you could've been hurt.
Good luck on the outcome.

So sorry to hear this. Luckily no one was in your truck to get hurt and it sounds like the driver of the other vehicle is ok. Its great looking truck and paid off so hopefully its not totaled.

If you need anything we can help with, let me know.

Keeping my fingers crossed that it can be fixed, one of my favorite trucks here.
Hopefully she wasn’t hurt but could’ve learned her lesson with a tree instead of your truck.

It's funny how we all see this and get that near feeling inside when we hear someone is about to die or just did. It's just a truck, not a person. But, that's the way I felt, heart drops to stomach, I'll be honest here. What a headache. Sounds like the girl is okay and good chances she learned her lesson about texting and driving (Hopefully). These youngsters can be so impatient, just check the text later or pull over if you think it's that important. Ugghh... As we all know, the insurance claims agents job is to minimize payout and some insurance companies take that motto to the grave, forget about the customer, the contract, the inconvenience and making it all right. Remember the depreciation argument if you have to. This truck has been in an accident now, you should get paid extra for that depreciation if they can fix it and should be able to get some extra on top. Anyway, you're out some wheels for a bit and that's no fun. Wishing the best for you bud!

I'm thankful nobody was hurt in this. Could have been alot worse. My wife, who truth be told drives the truck more than I do just finished walking about 10 bags or so of groceries up to the house literally minutes before the accident. Also I almost never park on the street but I was getting some repairs done to a shed I have and the man that was working on it parked his truck in the driveway along with a trailer.

What's frustrating to me is not only was this young lady texting while driving, she lives 3 doors down from us. She hit my truck with a small Jeep Compass. She had to be accelerating hard to knock my truck up onto the curb.

Anyway thanks for the encouragement. I'll advise if she can be fixed or not.

Yea Burla when I mentioned her actions I did not mean any hate toward her. Should have worded it different. We've all made mistakes...and we learn from them.

To RJL1 and all members on the thread: I wish to apologize for my comment on the young lady that hit RJL1's truck about her paying for her actions. I honestly just worded it wrong and yes it has bothered me. If it was my daughter right or wrong I would stand in her corner. I'm sure she feels bad about it but the good thing is that no one was hurt. Insurance will take care of things and I hope like I said in the thread that it works out well for RJL1 and also for the young lady that damaged his truck. I too have made my mistakes and paid for them and have been hit twice by the other party (both had no insurance.) I really enjoy this site and advice I have received from its members. Again, my sincerest apologizes and I wish safety for all.

I wouldn't sweat it, it wasn't that bad of a comment and was totally open to interpretation. I say some crazy $hit around here sometimes :D. As I stated, everyone is okay and HOPEFULLY she learned her lesson. The best lesson to learn are those that could have seriously injured or killed you or someone else but didn't. Seems like it was a very close call in both cases. If she learns from it, she might have just saved her future self from such incident occurring because this incident happened. Not cool for @RJL1 though, such an inconvenience and I hope it all turns out in his favor in the end.

Let us not take everything so seriously and to the extreme negative side. Most all of the worst things that have happened to me in my life have turned out to be the best lessons. We are human and in no way perfect and anyone with such expectations is living a lie and I do a hard 180 degree turn when I run into these so called self proclaimed perfect people. Lessons learned is the motto. When you don't learn from mistakes, I'll call you out and so should everyone else! It's reality and is how we properly progress towards higher intelligence and a life of improved experience!
