I recently bought a 2011 2500 Cummins and have come up to my first fuel filter change. Looking into a fuel filter and came across K&N part number PF-4801 for $49.99. I use Fleetguard oil filters as OEM Cummins but the Fleetguard FS56000 fuel filter element is $105.64 from Cummins. Has anyone had experience with the K&N replacement?

Thanks in advance for any information

Don't do it. Use fleetguard or Mopar, which is a fleetguard anyway. I've heard too many stories of bad filters, Chinese filters that are garbage and destroy an engine. Not worth saving a few bucks to be worried that it could.cost you an engine. Personally, I would just use genos garage and order your filters. That is where I went when I had a diesel. They are decently priced and guaranteed to be genuine...and they are great people!!

I would not use K&N it does not meet the 3 micron rating that Cummins wants used. Also I think you meant FS5300 not FS5600.. FYI I just bought 2 Fleetguard FS5300, the under the hood fuel filters ( they arrived today) from Cross filters for $125 delivered, I have been buying my Donaldson oil filters from them for the past few years. If you want to buy a Mopar chassis mounted filter at good price try Rock Auto. I have Mopar 68436631AA being delivered tomorrow from Rock Auto for under $60, but with the UAW on strike prices are likely to go up that is why I purchased extra filters.

You are right I meant FS53000. I had not come across micron ratings for the K&N, thank you for that information and for the suggestions for suppliers as well.

Interesting the OEM filter is an FS43255, upgrade of that one is the FS53000 and the FS53000 is $19 less.

I would avoid the FS43255 as the micron rating isn’t as good as the updated one. I think they learned that unit wasn’t good enough. The FS53000 is the way to go. Can get them for around $60. Just make sure they are from legit seller and don’t look like this!
