Hi, i have an issue even the dealer can’t resolve it.

I own 2021 ram 1500 limited longhorn, i lost one keyfob so I decided to make another one went to three different dealers and all of them told me they couldn’t access the system or even complete the programming process.

One of them recommended me to replace the Radio frequency hub. I agreed we bought the new hub and he couldn’t even see the new Radio Frequency hub and could not access it. They have no idea what is preventing them to get in.

We have noticed that there is a black wire is cut from the RFH. They told me its the security cable. However when they tried to install new RFH they connected that cable but with no luck at all.

Im not sure if someone can help me figure out what happening and how to resolve it

Thanks

It sounds like you might need to try a different dealer.

or,

You could try accessing it yourself. I've programmed key fobs on the new gen5 rolling code system using JScan. Though, it sounds like you need to initialize the new RF hub first.

@Jimmy07 would be the guy to ask about this, if he is still around.

Thanks for your response. The Dealer tried to replace the RFH . They could not see it on the diagram (the system could not see the new RFH) so if they not detected they could not program it

Yes, I assumed that to be the case from your description. The reason that I suggested a different dealer is because the usual next step in the process would be for the technician to look into WHY he can't connect to it.

Is it a push button start?

Does your remote keyless entry lock/unlock the doors? Does remote start work? How about the tire pressure monitoring system?

Because all of those are controlled by the RF Hub. If those all work, then the RF hub works. If they work and the tech can't connect to your RF hub, the the problem is either with his scan tool or the OBD2 port/connector/wiring.

Sounds like no power or service Teck issue, or it a used truck you just got with no history. Cut wire is a huge red flag that some is mucking about.

You say you lost one fob, but do you have the 2nd one and does it work?
if so then sounds like a programing problem.
I will add, I have never had to do one myself,
BTW Hi from Sask.

yes my 2nd fob works with no issues, lock unlock remote start . Yes its push start / keyless fob.
I bought it used but was wondering how even three different dealers can’t figure it out. One of them submitted a report to the engineering department for clarification or advice. I will keep you posted.
There is something preventing them to get in the system. Maybe the previous owner has installed a specific security system preventing access the car system honestly im not sure just assuming

If 2nd fob is working......I would find a good automotive locksmith where programming is their specialty

When I bought my truck it had one fob. Went to the dealership. they ordered and programmed another - both work perfectly. I had the Dealer Connect Key code. Apparently no problem at all having that info.

Did your issue get resolved? I have a similar issue. I had to replace my RF hub and now I can’t program the key. I cannot initialize the new RF hub without a programmed key. I cannot key the key to program. I only have one key and I know it’s good. It works everything with the old RF hub except passive entry. I have push button start but not remote start. I did notice the new RF hub from the dealer had an updated part number. Could the new RF be too new for my key?

My vehicle is a 2014 Ram 1500, 5.7, push button start.
