Kill Switch

I have 2015 Longhorn 1500 with the diesel engine. I was driving through a grass field on a ranch and I hit a muddy pothole with the front passenger tire. Everything stopped, the engine died, and will not re-start and transmission shifter knop won't turn, all the lights are on the shifter knob. I understand that some vehicles have some type of kill switch that kills the engine in the event of an accident. Does Ram have something similar? How do I reset it? What do you think is the problem?

1. Service Air Suspension System

2. Until You Reach a Desired Location. You May Not Be Able to Shift Again Until Serviced.

3. Service Transmission Continue in D. Do Not Shift or Turn Engine Off

have you tried to pull the battery cable. maybe will reset? i think there's a tip over protection but I can't see that engaging after hitting a puddle. sounds more like you got water where it shouldn't be

Yes, disconnected the battery overnight, no change.

Plug in an OBD scanner, should be the first tool purchased by any vehicle owner.

yep. I had one of those little 20 dollar bluetooth ones from amazon on my tacoma. it had an 02 sensor acting up on and off and would throw a code. I should have kept it cause it only worked with an android and the buyer had an iphone. So I found one on sale for 20 locally shortly after getting my Ram. Works great for my needs and just sits in my armrest storage when I don't need it.

Thank you, I will try an OBD scanner. Is there any difference between brands or models? besides price.

if you are talking about the handheld type full scanners, more features depending on the price but even the cheap ones should have the clear code function (a must). the main difference i've seen is some give a code but not a description of the code. Usually if it does or not will be found in the description. the bluetooth one i use from amazon uses free apps from the play store to clear codes and such. works pretty slick and gives me detailed code explanations as well as various other settings you can have it display on your phone (speed, gps, emissions state, MAP sensor info etc). I got one of those for my tacoma when i had it as well because i didn't have any distance to empty or any other technical info on a 2003 taco i originally was going to buy a handheld for 40 bucks from amazon but kind of stumbled into the bluetooth one and i liked my last one.

I wouldn't think that code would cause the truck to die and not do anything.
Start looking under the truck for wiring connectors that have loosened and/or can apart. There was a guy with an EcoDiesel had a similar thing happen but he drove through a big water puddle fairly fast. He found a wiring harness came apart inside the frame rail.
Also check the BCM connectors under the dash, it's to the left of the steering column.

Yes I would look under the truck in bright light and look for a plug near the trans or vac. line broken hope you get it up and running

Older Fords had an inertia switch behind the passenger kick panel in case of an accident that would shut off power to the fuel pump and wouldn't let the the truck start. I'm not sure but it sounds like that's what happened to your truck. the low pressure fault would indicate that the fuel pump isn't running.

My wife had a Mustang that stopped in a parking lot. She had it towed to the Dealer. Not two weeks later, did it again. They towed it a second time. This time they replaced the switch. On the Mustang, it was located in the trunk.
