Not sure how I did it, but I completely killed my battery. I left work to go to the store on post at lunch, truck started without a hitch, charging good, turned it off at the store, was in there for about 10 min came out and it was completely dead. Just barely lifted off the L mark and no amperage at all. I got it jumped and let it run for quite awhile and it looked like it was charged, next morning it was dead again. I've seen a battery go bad slowly, but never go completely bad in just a few minutes. Wondering if anyone else has had this happen.

Get the battery checked.for a dead cell. That's most likely the problem if.

Yup - common.

There are pretty much two ways the battery will die - slow and painful, or quick like a heart attack...you got the heart attack battery death!

Seriously, yes, the majority of the batteries I've replaced over the years are work one day, dead the next.

These trucks are picky about batteries. My truck was running completely fine one day, the next it wouldnt even try to start. Couldnt even jump start it. I never left anything on either to run it down, just died

I think it was all the heat this summer, several of my work associates had their batteries die as well this summer.

Not looking forward to mine going. Ill bet it does this winter though knowing my luck. Lol I've had mine in the truck since 75k miles and I'm right over 112k. Every battery I've had die had been the "heart attack" mentioned above though!

Just an FYI for anybody wanting to replace their battery....

Go to Advance Auto Parts's site...add the battery you want, for this example, I will use the Autocraft Gold Group 65, 850 CC Amp with 3 year free replcement...its retail price is $132.99 before exchange fees of $12.

Ad it to the cart and select pick up at your local store...then enter the following promo code... BATX...that code will being the battery price down to $99.74 out the door. Pay for it, print the receipt and go pick up your new battery...

Thanks for that smokedram!! Question for you guys though, is the hype of the optima batteries worth the price? I'd like to run a sub and amp but don't want todo it on my current battery because its so old and I know I can run a system on a regular battery as I've done it before but have been interested in the optimas

From what I have read and heard from my friends experiences...the Optima's arent worth the price.

This happened to me before, it sucks getting stranded lol. I've heard the Sears Die Hard Platinums are pretty much the best ones out there, that'll be my next one.

I once bought a Energizer Platinum battery back in the 90s for my car that had a ton of audio in. That thing took a complete drain on several occasions at parties runnin the stereo and it lasted for years. Best battery I ever bought, too bad they don't make them anymore.
