So I went to the dealer today to schedule my recall (rear axle housing plug thing) and to ask about flashing my truck with the Laramie mirror feature. He gave me the run around about having to purchase different mirrors. Sounds like BS to me. The mirrors have motors, you should just have to flash the truck with the option/command to tilt them down a certain degree when the truck is put in reverse.

Anyone have any ideas about this? I'd like to have it, but I'm not buying new mirrors.

The options I'm talking about is this:

When you put the truck into reverse, the mirrors tilt down so you can see the ground lines. Then when put into drive or park, they tilt back to the previous setting. I absolutely love this feature, and wish I had it as I could use it every day!

Its just a flash. I traded my mirrors that came on my truck for Laramie chrome mirrors and I don't have the auto tilt mirrors just because I have the Laramie mirrors. The guy I traded with said the auto tilt worked with my plain black mirrors so its not built into the mirrors.

You need the "memory mirrors" . They can activate but the feature won't work without the specific mirror. I think they are all chrome.

Yeah screw that then, I hate chrome. :flipthebird: Might try this reverse relay thing, seems like it would work, just have to hardwire it in. Instead of memory, it just uses time and seconds.

I don't understand why all of the Rams don't have this...they are all the same size with the same size mirrors...it's not like the Laramie is harder to back up.

I would love to have it since I have to back in to my spot at work every morning, in the dark, with ridiculously dark windows.

I have the tow mirrors with the memory on my Laramie and they don't tilt in reverse. Maybe it is a configurable thing through the EVIC and I have it off or since I can see the ground with the convex portion maybe the tow mirrors don't do it. My wife's MDX did that and it drove me nuts...

I do have that option, i can honestly say i didn't like it at all. I left it enabled for about two days and turned it off. I have b/u camera and when backing up and the mirrors tilted, i felt there was more of a blind spot. i would have to turn my head to make sure the sides of the truck were clear as opposed to just using my mirrors in normal position. just my 2 cents

I have that option in my BMW. I hate it. I never use it. I have a back up camera.

I looked this morning - it is an option selected through the EVIC on my Laramie, I have it off, drives me nuts on my wife's car.

Wish I had this feature. Ask anybody around me and they can tell you I can't back up a truck to save my life without a back up camera and have somebody do it for me most of the time. Unless it's at my house, I back my truck in every day but have a lot more room and can park as crooked as I want

Having this option i can say that although good for tight spots or getting close to curbs otherwise it would just drive you crazy.

The setting can be changed in the EVIC on the Laramie. I personally don't like it when towing do I have mine turned off. I am not sure if new Laramie towing mirrors that flip out have feature but my fixed towing mirrors do have the feature in 2009.

Then maybe you should not be towing a trailer. :********:
