Hi guys! This is my first post here. Sweet forum.

I just Bought this Dodge 1500 Big Horn 2010 and it has this leak that is coming from the bolt there which is just above the lower hose.

I think that it just needs a new gasket inside but I am not sure because I am new to doing my own work on my own vehicles and I would like to bring this Dodge back to good shape so I will have more posts to come.

What part is this and how can I fix it?

If I remove the bolt to replace gasket, will fluid come leaking out all over the place?

I have the repair book but cant find the part name. Perhaps with just the part name I can find out how to fix leak.

See pic for part information.

thanks in advance!

that is your waterpump.was it recently replaced,it looks pretty new?I would verify 100% that 1.it is coolant 2.its not coming from a hose before i would remove water pump. You can pressureize the system to help find where your leak is just dont go over what you rad. cap says.if you have any questions post them and welcome to the forum.

Looks like the water pump has been replaced judging from the difference in finish from the block.
Also looks like it's cracked at the circled bolt, if so you need a new pump.

+1 Looks like water pump gasket, and yes if you remove the bolt you will have a river of coolant from there.

my guess is someone recently replaced the water pump and did not seat the gasket correctly or maybe over torqued a bolt and cracked the pump.
