I have the led light bar with the Cross pattern Daylight Running Lights. I Have already wired them up as the wiring came.

Nevertheless, I want them to only have power when the Sun is up during the day. I was going to simply run a hot wire from the cigarette lighter to the switch. Nevertheless I wondered if I could purchase a photo cell switch off of eBay

and put the photocell in the line between the cigarette lighter and the DRL switch?

If so would anybody have any suggestions where to mount this sensor?

I guess i could do it in the cab and or do it under the hood. If i do it under the hood i need find a power source under the hood. Currently the add a circuits i purchased for the fuse box do not fit into the slot. ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Add-A-Circuit-Fuse-Tap-MICRO-Fuse-Holder-APS-ATT-mini-LOW-PROFILE-FREE-FUSE/202409825857?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 ). So i have to find another power source.

Any suggestions on this matter would be welcomed. Thanks.

An alternative method would be to have the DRL on only when the headlights are off. You could wire a normally closed relay powered by the headlights that would open and subsequently turn off your DRL. You would need a second relay in the power circuit so the light is not on when the truck is off.

I apologize but this has confused me. When you say " a normally closed relay "... Is this a other than normal off the rack relay? I currently have a relay from advanced auto parts that is still in the package. Could I use that? Or is that considered a " open relay "?

I imagine you are suggesting running these off the low beam headlights. I could buy a extension

and tap into the hot wire and go from there ?

Not to be snarky at all but.......

you need to do some reading on relays and how they are switched.

I didn't know how much I didn't know until I started studying the different possibilities that "normally open" and "normally closed" relays afford.
It's far too much info to put into a message.
Good luck!
