Got this pic tonight of the LED headlight surrounds. The headlights themselves are not turned on. I could have read a book while standing 15 feet from the front of the truck. Totally not kidding -- they're very bright.

OOF! I wonder if mine look that bright at night. I've noticed since posting this thread, that they're on, they're just not that bright. I seem to recall after a remote start one night, that the surrounds were much brighter than usual.

With mine, I've noticed that if I remote start it, they do light up but at a lower brightness. They're still bright, but just not blindingly bright like when running with the headlights off.

Then, when I get in and hit the start button to put the truck in "run", they light up to their full thermonuclear detonation glory. If I turn on the headlights, it appears that they dim again back to remote-start level.

Honestly, at dusk or at night, if I'm standing directly in front of the truck when they're at full brightness (i.e. ignition in run, engine running, headlights off) they're painful to look at even from 20 feet away.

For what it's worth, I do have my DRLs disabled in the settings. I'm curious if the extra brightness is the computer telling me "I don't care what you want" and trying to compensate for the DRLs being disabled? Just a thought.

Also wondering if they behave differently between a 1500 and a 2500+? Mine's a 2500.

Oooooh, your last sentence - I think - sealed the answer... I do believe the 2500's are brighter. My DRL's are disabled as well.

That's my guess as the signature lights on my 2500 Laramie are bright when headlights are off. They dim when headlights are on. DRL setting doesn't affect them. You can turn them off with AlphaOBD but cannot adjust the brightness.
