Not store bought stuff that just needed installing, although nothing wrong with that. Just curious about ways people have gotten creative and "rigged up" or built something on their own to hold a gas can for example, or made anchoring points out of ordinary Home Depot hardware, just home made or somehow improvised, or re-purposed stuff to secure things in the bed.

Here's one. Pretty simple and it works.

With my truck box installed getting to the front tie downs in the corner of the bed difficult at best.

I got some chain, spring snaps & slip hooks and attached one end to the front tie downs. I purposely left the chain short to give me some flexibility for different size loads. I use ratchet straps between the hooks to secure the load from side to side. To keep the chains from flopping around and sliding back under the box, I used some bungy cords to secure them to the rear tiedowns. Now I can secure a load from all 4 corners without trying to slide something undee the tool box.

9B0796B5-9EB6-47A0-A7E3-237613CCDF32.jpeg I made it easier for my wife to get groceries with this. I don’t have to go with her as much. She likes to drive my truck.
They stack on top each other.
I leave them in all the time now they are handy. I use the Fold a cover g4 to hide them.

Call it redneck ingenuity. Lol.
I have a plastic milk crate connected to a tie down to the bed of the truck. This helps keep small items from sliding all across the bed.

When I haul a gas can or a bucket of paint or something I don't want to spill I tie a rope to the handle then over the tailgate and to my trailer hitch. I also have 18" long ropes with loops at the end tied to all four attachment points in the bed so if I'm hauling a large load of tree limbs or plywood it's easy to lash the load down with rope tied to these loops instead of trying to reach into the bottom of the bed for the attachment points.

Also take a bunji cord and tie 650LB parachute cord to one of the hooks and spiral wrap it around the bunji and then tie it to the other hook and attach the bunji to your rear 2 tie down points in the bed. This makes a place to put grocery sacks, gas cans, or other gear so they don't slide all over the bed and it's easy to disconnect. The parachute cord makes sure it doesn't stretch too much when you have to stop quickly.

This is what I do. Milk crate tied and bungied to the rear left (driver) bed loop/hook.

Handy as hell. Also bungy or tie fuel cans together to the opposite bed hook so they don’t go slidin everywhere.

I really love that chain rig at the top of this thread.

Similar to the milk crate idea. I keep a five gallon bucket with a bucket boss seat in the bed and a bungee cord wrapped around it attached to the tie down loop on the driver's side. I keep a few things in there but it also doubles as a step to get into the bed.
