Louie's New Stripes

Someone recently hooked me up with a dent in my hood (beer bottle). Was just going to just repair the dent, but then I decided to try out the idea of bed liner racing stripes. While I was at it, I wanted to removed most of the chrome, but leave little highlights...Hit the hood, bumpers, grill assembly, mirrors and step bars. Playing with the idea of taking the stripe over the entire vehicle, but that roof is going to be a PITA!!!

epitomeofme: what did you do to the chrome prior to painting? I put bed liner on the grill insets and it does chip off! I thought it would be tougher - but I guess it has nothing to hold on too! Need more pic's?!!

So far everything has held...I did do a crapload of sanding...just the grill assembly alone, I spent about 4-5 hours sanding.

As I read and researched (over and over)...the surface prep was the key. I started with 80 grit one direction and then went back over with 120 the other direction. I did that several times. The idea I had was to make "cross-hatch" designs for the spray to adhere to. Not sure if that makes sense, but it made complete sense to me !!!!

I am getting ready to work the steps again because I sprayed them in black, but am going to remove everything and spray them in the Brown Pearl tint. Will try to remember to get a couple of shots and add them up..

The mineral gray is a good looking color....very subtle. What other plans do you have?

That does look good! I've got the same color, ordered hash marks and a punisher bed stripe. Been waiting on the damn post office all week!!! Hopefully today!

Being a vinyl guy ( I do vinyl graphics from home for extra cash) I like the look of these graphics. Very nice guys.
