So I have a Laramie, and there's more chrome on it than I know what to do with. I've heard a lot about paint not properly adhering to the chrome. I'm of the thought though that if you prep it right, it should stick, correct? I'm not a paint guy, but these chrome mirror caps and door handles gotta go! I also love the look of my stock six-spoke chrome clads, but I don't like the chrome on them. I know people have been plastidipping them, but I'd like a more permanent solution if anyone knows of any. It's time to do some serious changes on the exterior. If anyone has ideas or has done anything like this on their trucks, let me know!

I know the door handles can be purchased for relatively low. All the rest, I wouldn't paint over the chrome. I would sand it myself, or have it sand blasted and painted properly. Would suck to shell out money for painting, only to have it chip off a week or two later.

Any pics of said truck? :waytogo:

You can paint over chrome just sand it well and use a self etching primer

As far as the rims go though, them being the chrome clads and all. With the right prep, could they be painted as well with any sort of guarantee that they'd be ok?

For the handles and mirrors you might want to get ahold of Jeremy at Retroshop, the mans painter knows his stuff he just did the ram emblems for me!

get the handles from Dodge......at $200 for a set (what I paid for mine that sit in the garage in the box still...) - we can't touch that - considering you'd have to get something to run around with for a bit...

Mirrors, we'll do them - but not the chrome ones. Won't touch that stuff. ;)
