After reading as many posts as I can about the subject and the very many different routes to take, can someone Re assure me my thinking is correct? I would like to eventually get to a 4” lift with about a 2” rake. My current measurements are 36.5” front and 38.5” rear with 33” tires. From ground up. I would like to get to 41” front and 43” rear with 35” tires +/- .5”’s. I do no off pavement driving with this truck it is simply for aesthetics. Highway driving and job sites.

I can’t afford to do this in 1 step so will have to do this a little at a time. I am pretty much sold on the Bilstein 5100’s for the front set at 2.5 with the Bilstein 0-1” rears with a 1” spacer maybe 1.5” spacer if the Bilstein can handle it. Gets me to roughly 39” front and 40” rear. Add an inch for 35’s when that fits in the equation, so 40” front and 41” rear.

I will be doing all labor myself.

The questions are:

1. when I can afford a 4” suspension lift, will I still be able to use the Bilsteins that I have purchased now?

2. Will the stock rear shock handle a 1.5” rear spring spacer?

3. I hate body lifts, but talk me into a 1.5” body lift for cost savings.etc... over going to a 4” suspension lift

4. Anything I am missing?

Ok, I’ll bite......

Answers:

1) Yes. Many do this, myself included.

2) if you are keeping it on the street as you said you could get away with it but new rear shocks are not expensive. And sooner or later you’ll over extend them.

3). Body lifts on the Rams actually look pretty good, even @3” you can barely see the frame so they don’t look bad at all. If you are doing the labor it’s cheaper but if you pay someone it won’t be much less than a full on 4” suspension install (of course location will make a difference but my 4” lift was installed for $540)

4) nothing other than the realization once you start down this road it NEVER ends ;)
