I recently inquired about having a 2.5" leveling kit installed in my 2011 RAM 1500. The owner of the shop was trying to sell me on installing leveling struts instead. It seems they don't use BDS kits and the leveling kits they install somehow trap road salt above the struts which leads to corrosion. Having new leveling struts installed will cost me close to $600 out the door. Having a leveling kit installed will cost me about $300.

Is there any advantage to leveling struts?? What would you do?

Struts are better make sure you get a alignment after the install. However whatever you do dont use rancho quick lift struts they suck found out the hard way.

You have to get an alignment either way so that cost is already part of it.

The question is whether you want to spend more money up front on doing it right, or spend more money later when your spacers end up trashing your upper ball joints and you have to do it the right way after all plus buy new UCA's.

I went with the Rough Country 2" struts which come pre-loaded with springs, saving you from spring compressors. The ride is pretty much the same as stock and it gave me the advertised 2 inches of lift. For the price they are hard to beat.

Thank you everyone for the education. Looks like I'll be going with leveling struts when I level.
