License Plate LEDs

Anyone know how to and which LEDs would fit our 3rd gen license plate lights ?
I wanna give it a little more light. Since Im going with 6K HID for Head and fog lights soon; I thought giving it a little more white brightness on the rear would match perfect.

Wondering the same thing.
I think they are 168 from what Ive found.
But how do you swap them ?
Its just plug and play ? Or do you need any adaptors ?

They are very easy to swap...u can use 194 leds...just like changing a regular bulb just make sure the polarity is correct

3rd gens take 168 leds in the license plate lights. Simply remove the old bulb and put the new led one in. No adapters or resistors are needed.

i have pure white leds i got from superbrightled.com . theyh are the wedge shaped 194 bulbs, i got the ones with the four leds on the side and the one on top

Here is the list I found after some researches for 3rd Gen:
"THIRD GEN LEDS
Reverse - 3rd Gens from 02-06 use 3057/3157, 07-08 use 921
Third Brake Light-921
Dome Light/Map Lights-578/212-2 (I found one that is MUCH brighter that fits both festoon style map lights and the dome light, it is a 4210-HP6 bulb, I used 'cool white', so as described above a '4210-CWHP6' bulb. It's like daylight in the cab.)
*Note* Some trucks also have the map light bulb listed as a 194.*
License Plate-168
Tail Lights/Brake Lights-3157 *Use a RED bulb for this*
Front Turn Signal-3157

INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS
Speedometer/gauge cluster-B8.5
(Will update with additional bulbs, HVAC, overhead console, ect)


Also, many of the miniature wedge base bulbs (921, 194, 168,) can often interchange, allowing you to use a brighter bulb, IF it will fit in the lens as far as the dimensions go concerning height, width, ect."

ordered mine for 4th gen from AAC, or Advanced Automotive Concepts- AACstyle.com, got the strongest for that, believe a 194, superbright.

This is what I put in my '04 1500 5.7L.

The 168 or 194 will work. However, they are pos/neg sensitive. If they don't light the first time spin them 180 degrees and they should work.
