I have a 1998 dodge ram 1500 5.9 4x4 with a 3inch body lift and 315/75/r16 tires .
I was wondering if I should do a 3inch suspension lift or take the body lift off and go
With a 6 inch suspension , and what kit or brand would you recommend?

I wouldn't be looking at lift with that size tire, I'd be looking at gears. SInce it isn't mentioned, what gears do you have? Yes it does make a difference. If its stock probably 3.55, which will hurt your drivetrain long term. I'd upgrade to 4.56 gears if anything. Heck even a 60 swap would be better money spent than more lift for 35's. D44 sucks for big tires.

To answer your question though IMO just go all suspension, I hate the look of body lifts. Something about the gap just makes it look weird IMO. Also depends what kinda funds you want to put into this. Be cheaper to do a 3" suspension lift and stack with the BL over a fullout 6" suspension lift.

Didn't put much thought into gears you're right , its stock 3.55. What about 4.10 gears ? A 60 swap would be a good idea also . Change it over to a limited slip also ?

Go find a set of 60's or 60 & 70 diffs with 4.10's in them thats a big step and is a multi type upgrade. Bigger brakes all round, 4.10 gears, factory lsd, almost a bolt in job of course you will need new rims. Then gear those when you can to 4.56 gears. Installing the 60's will get you about a 1" in lift. As for lift split it between the two as suggested, but that depends on your budget. If it was me full suspension lift is always better but not cheap.
