So, Im finally getting around to working on SEVERAL projects for the truck. One of which is modifying the interior lighting somewhat. The end goal, is to create a dual color lighting setup for the interior lights, puddle lights, and under hood light. I would like them to all have red LED bulbs (which I have already changed the interior lights to), but when a switch is flipped, I would like them to change to white.

After putting in the red LED's I have really grown to like the look and feel of the red glow in the cabin at night. On long road trips with the family, it lets me light up the cabin enough to see what Im looking for, without killing my night vision, and without disturbing the family. However, there are times that the red just isnt enough, and I do occasionally miss the white lighting.

So the question is... Does RAM do its switching off of the hot wire, or off the ground wire? I believe most manufacturers switch on the voltage... but I think Toyota is one that does the switching from the ground wire.

Thanks so much! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Or... if you have any suggestions for the lighting project, Id welcome that too!

Safety-wise, everything should switch the positive voltage side. Most RAMs have the negative battery bonded to the chassis, so you'd want it to float with no power applied.

If you get a relay with both positions available, you could connect the ignition power / supply power to C, then have the white LEDs on the NC and red LEDs on the NO. You can also do this with a regular switch if you don't want to do it remotely.
