Hello all, first post here. First off great forum.

Purchased a used 2015 Ram 2500 two weeks ago. 4x4 SLT Crew Cab with the diesel engine. TPMS light was on at the time from cold weather and I said no big deal. That can be overlooked and i'll have them aired up later. 29k miles on the truck with aftermarket wheels and tires.

Fast forward to today. The tires are 35x1250x20 Nitto Terra Grappler's, 121R tires, maximum inflation 65 PSI.

I go to discount tire to get some air. I tell the tech 70 PSI in the front and rear (nice and even right?). He explains to me that he cannot put that air in the tire. I am of course confused initially but he explains that the tire maxes out at 65 PSI and the door panel on the vehicle states 80 PSI in the rear at cold pressure. He goes on to tell me that the factory tires have a load index of 125 and these have a load index of only 121 (doesn't sound good).

Contact the dealer I purchased it from and they said "it's all good, no worries." Even got the extended warranty on the vehicle. ********.

Looks like i'm riding around with my TMPS light on for the rest of my life.

Thoughts?

You can reprogram the TPMS settings with an Autel tool.

Yup, pretty much. I have the same problem. I've learned to live with it but there r some ways to fix it. Just have to look around.

You can change the TPMS settings and get rid of the light yourself with Alpha OBD (and do a lot of other things). Just need to get the vehicle PIN from your dealer (you will need this no matter what tool you use to set it).

All the info is right here

I get the whole tpms reset thing.

But is it safe to have lower load index tires on this vehicle?

I thought 2500 tires had to be load range E?

At least I thought that was the only option I had the last time I bought tires for mine.

Safe as long as you don't exceed the rating. Are you towing with it? If not don't worry about it. If you do tow check you weights of what you are towing and compare to the rating

121 is rated at 3197lbs
125 is rated at 3638lbs

It's got a goose neck hitch in the back and I plan on using it.
