Truck spends most of its time on the road, and i go wheeling here and there, so a selectable locker is what I am lookin at. I'm thinking about an OX Locker.. I have heard some mixed answers on weather it is best to install one in the front or the rear, what do yall think? Have any of yall had experience with that brand? Thoughts,comments....

I would just go with a Detroit TruTrack in the rear. Very streetable locker that unlocks for firms and suck but when under hard throttle equalized equalizes power to each wheel.

When my truck finally goes kapoot, I'll be getting a 2nd gen more than likely with a diesel and OX Lockers are going to be my choice, I want all manual for all.

Yep personally I'd just go with a Detroit. Half the cost of a selectable. No gas around the corners and you're fine.

If in the front you will get weird handling. Ever run a front wheel drive?
It works well but it's odd and tends to just make you go straight no matter where you think you want to go because a locker will cause both tires to turn at the same speed and just pull you straight instead of letting you turn. Back pushes and front pulls and you go where it wants you to go.
A LSD in the back, or a locker, works well but get's funky when it's slippery out. Instead of one wheel anchoring you it's a lot easier to slip sideways.
LSD front and rear, or lockers, works amazing off road.
Selectables are great as you can use them when you need them.
If you want an OX or ARB, get one. Put it in the back.
If you really need the front to pull you around, get tire chains. If you have one set, use them on the front. Best to get two sets and chain up all around. Using one set of chains on the back pushes you forward with no steering control.
Once again your only going straight.
I like Automatic lockers or LSD myself.
I'd rather just know it's working and drive away rather than spinning and having to turn it on to get moving from a traffic light.
DO NOT ENGAGE WHILE YOU HAVE ONE WHEEL SPINNING.

Huh, never knew LSDs make it handle weird. Mine handles fine, skips a little bit at times, but nothing odd.
I went back and forth from a truck that had an open diff and one with an LSD, and I will never go back to an open diff.

Not weird I guess but different.
One example: sitting on ice at an intersection.
Open diff, light turns green, one wheel spins madly.
LSD, light turns green, rear of truck slides sideways. (hitting the vehicle beside you) :roflsquared:

But LSD or locker in your front diff makes for odd handling in slippery situations when 4wd is engaged.
If your not use to it and know how to counteract the steering and such you could be in trouble on the street.

If you have lockers or limited slip front and rear and 4wd is engaged and your on a slippery (ice) road or side hill and you hit the gas, the spinning four wheels will not make you go forward. Instead, you will go sideways.
Tell me that's not weird. Lol.

So this guy is in the bar and see's a lady with a wooden leg. As he has a wooden eye he figures she may not be bothered by it and so he goes over to her and asks her if she would like to dance.
She says "Would I, would I"
He replies "**** you Peg Leg"

That's what he's doing.
But that's not what he's asking.

He want's to know if he'd like it better in the front or rear. :naughty:
I think he would prefer it in the rear.

What are your thoughts?

I would do the rear. The front you wouldn't normally use unless the rear locker is engaged. If it just the front, he would, I think break something.

I've run ARB lockers on my jeeps. A couple of my buddies run OX. I like being able to lock and unlock whenever I want.
Up here in the far north. When we get icy roads, a locker that engages on wheel speed or slip. Going around a corner and it's slick and the locker engages front or rear, not good.
