I am looking at the 2013 Ram Sport below, pretty much fully loaded without the NAV, and would like to get some thoughts/opinions.

Ram 1500 2013 Usagé Sport ** CUIR, MAGS, MARCHE-PIED!! Camion boîte allongée Quad Cab Occasion à vendre | Hyundai Châteauguay Rive Sud de Montréal

I've never owned a Dodge before, always had F150's.

I am in Quebec, and found the above Ram Sport and really like the look.
Few questions:

-Is $29,995 a good price (33000KM)?
-Extended warranty worth it? (he'll throw in winter tires/rims with extended warranty, around $3000 and most of it is reimbursable if I dont use it).
-What kind of stuff should I look for on this truck when I go see it and test drive it? What should I look out for specifically?

Carproof is good, no accidents, only 1 owner. Anything else, all input is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

29990 CAD works out to about 24000 USD, so I would say it's a pretty good deal.

Miles are sort of high for such a young truck, but not something I'd be concerned with.

It seems Canadians usually get screwed with pricing and that price doesn't seem bad at all. If it has warranty I wouldn't be overly concerned, just look it over thoroughly and test drive. The payload on the newer Rams is lower than the f150s. Just something to keep in mind.

Its not a bad truck for the price.. If you can find one with an 8 speed transmission for a little bit more it would definitely be worth it to get the 8. The 8 speed power and quickness of the shifting makes worlds of a difference over the 6. (ive owned both)

Even if you go with the 6 speed its still a great truck and I liked mine over my friends eco boost f150.

I have also mainly been a "Ford Guy" and was looking for a newer truck. I had a 06 F250 and did not need to go to a HD truck since I am no longer towing a camper. I did not like the way the F150 felt when I sat in it and they were way to proud of the trucks when it came to pricing. I picked up a 09 Ram 1500 CC Laramie last month and could be no happier with my decision.

Seems to be a pretty sweet deal! And that is a good looking truck too.

How long is the extended warranty for?

Price is neither good nor bad. Pretty much on point with the market. That truck isn't fully loaded, half leather seats, no heated or cooled seats, no heated wheel, backup camera, park assist... probably base audio... By all means if that's what you want and can bargain a bit then it's good purchase.. but there are 2013 trucks listed within a few grand of that in Ontario with more options and around the same mileage. You may have to travel for it thats all.

I went from a '12 Sport with the 6 speed to a '14 with the 8spd, and I would say its well worth looking for an 8spd if you can find it. Waaaay better trans.

Also, make sure you get the gears you want, either 3.92 if you are after towing/performance/in town mpg or 3.21 if you want better highway mpg. They are not easily swappable on 4x4s, that seems to snag a lot of people around here. I assumed I could swap mine easily when my '12 didn't have the 3.92s from the factory.

I just traded in my '05 F150 Lariat for a brand new '14 Ram Big Horn and I'm glad I did it. Not sure what year your F150 is but if you know about the 2 piece spark plug they developed and how much a pain in the ass to change. After I attempted to change mine (broke 7 out of the 8) I had to bring it to the dealer and $4800 later I just wanted to get rid of it. Don't get me wrong, I loved my F150 but I love my Ram even more.

Miles could be high maybe because they're highway miles possibly? But 24k USD is a good price..

I came from 3x F-150's. Only thing I miss from my Ford is the key pad entry.

Just look who was the last owner. If it was a company truck . Don't buy this.

Also if the truck can have the chysler warranty , it might be a good idea to buy it.

I bought mine in quebec too, and my chrysler 7yrs/160000km warranty was around 6k$ to give you an idea if they give you a good price or they try to rip you off.

Also I'm not a brand truck guy. I always had gm truck ( not because of the brand , i loved the look) I drove a f-150 at my job, and I bought my ram because I got a huge deal on it. They are all good trucks. But rear coil spring make the ride much smoother . And my rear sag less than my sierra with my 4800lb travel trailer.

that's actually not very high for Canadian driving. i go about 20k km per year and that's not even driving to work

Man...stuff is spendy in Canada.

we pay on average 20% more. part of it is due to the dollar difference and higher wages but also because of taxes. they claim it also costs more due to shipping but to me that's just an excuse to screw us

Yeah the price never got lower when the cad was higher than the usd. Now the cad is sh*tty they give us that old and good apologize about the us and can price difference.

The extended warranties are the worst. they are near twice the us price. what a scam.:flipthebird:

Agreed, I just bought a 2012 with 34k on it and they were gonna give me an extended for $1400 which is pretty good up here but I passed anyway. I have a really good private mechanic for when I hit 60k. I'll use up the extra 40k in 18 months anyway.
Back on topic I almost bit on a Ford F150 when I was shopping this week but I just can't get away from how much more I like the exterior styling of RAMs. Yeah shallow for a pickup I know, but hey, you still gotta look at your truck every day! Aside from that I prefer the Hemi to Ford's 5.0 and V6 Eco, and prefer the ride of the rear coils.

Price is on par with the market. 33K kms is roughly 20,500 miles. I picked up my Ram for under $20K here in Ontario which was a fair market price. I'm not into haggling so I shop around until I see a vehicle that fits my needs and I buy it. Even when the dollar was on par with the US, vehicles were still 15-20% more expensive up here. In Ontario, sales tax alone is 13%. My $20K truck, when it was all said and done was nearly $27K - for a relatively plain, used, SXT quad cab 4x4. Sad eh. Normal going MSRP for a Laramie Ram is in the $50K range, plus tax, other fees, etc. When I was doing the paperwork for my Ram last year, two ecodiesels were on the lot (already sold) and stickered for $52K (SLT), and 56K (Outdoorsman) MSRP.

For you US guys, in Quebec, it's mandated that every vehicle needs winter tires in the winter, so there goes another $1000 in tires (perhaps rims as well). At least fuel prices are hovering at or under $1/L at least (just under $3.85/US gal, down from $5.25).

I was initially looking at a newer GM 1500, but for similar content, plus the 390hp Hemi in the Ram over the GM 4.8L with 4 speed, the Ram is the better value for the price. The only kick in the pants is more maintenance down the road, but as I don't drive more than 15K kms a year, I really won't notice it.

I looked @ all 3 USA brands hard. I am so pleased I went with 2014 RAM CC Blackout 4X4 HEMI with the 8 speed . GMC/CHEVY are nice but they wanted to treat them like gold. Ford was my 2nd choice but the RAM just looks so much better! Also the sound and power of the HEMI won me over.
