LOL
That reminds me about a FART that happened in 1963
You could call it a Memorable Fart
I graduated from the Navy's Great Lakes Boot Camp on January 23rd 1963, i seem to remember that it was -23 degrees F & windy
In the military they tell you what to wear & they don't give you options, especially in Boot Camp
The uniform of the day was dress blues, sweater, P Coat & possibly a scarf.
They had not told us that we could wear gloves or anything to cover our ears.
They had us marched to a train station & had us go into what seemed like a warehouse.
My ears hurt like someone was holding a branding iron against them
While we were in the building, i noticed that everyone except our graduating class were wearing gloves & had a scarf wrapped around their ears & face when they got in there.
While standing there in formation, they handed us an envelope, it was our Orders.
My Orders read Jacksonville Florida
The train took us to an airport, i don't recall whether it was a civilian or military aircraft, my ears were just about the only thing that i thought about.
The plane landed & our group leader mentioned that someone from the Naval Base would be coming to pick us up
I forgot to mention, it was 70 + degrees in Florida & we were already sweating.
Finally a pickup truck showed up, it read Shore Patrol on the sides
They had been told that there was a couple of sailors coming in from Great Lakes & they would be going to NAS JAX
Well a couple was not the number in the group
There was 9 of us & our Seabags, all of us sweating like pigs
We had to load into the bed of that pickup truck
9 young adult men & seabags
You know that we were over payload & low on fresh air.
We had not driven far when one of the guys started farting.
I forgot about my ears & everyone started yelling at the 2 Shore Patrol up in the front to open some vents or something.
Well maybe they were having fun at our expense, but the just said that we were almost there. That trip felt like it was an hour or more long.
When the Shore Patrol opened that door, the stench hit him & he started yelling at no one in particular
I don't remember much after that, except when my ears thawed out
