Hello all,

I'm looking at trading in my 2008 Chevy Avalanche LT on a 2010 Ram 1500 Laramie.

Here is the link of the truck:
New and Used Car Inventory | Birdnow Dealerships | Used Cars, New Car Dealers, Iowa, Cedar Rapids, Waterloo, Dubuque, Prairie du Chien, Davenport, Jesup, Monona, Fayette, Oelwein, Cascade

Do you think the price is too high on that? Is there anything in particular I should look for as far as known issues with this year/model go?

I really like my Avalanche for the most part, but am not a fan of the cheap GM plastic all over the truck that seems to have issues. I've also been having door/tailgate lock issues that come and go.

Primarily, my reasons for looking to change to the Ram is due to the bigger cab (more room for rear passengers), the Ram Boxes, and the cargo areas inside the truck.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Nathan

My previous truck was a 2010 Laramie with 175,000km on it when I traded it. That works out to about 108,000 miles. I did a ****load of towing with it, and very heavy loads. Average of 4500lbs each time. I think about 70% of that mileage was towing.

The dealership sold it back for $25,000 cdn.

Only issues were:

1. Pinnion nut between the driveshaft and the differential came loose and caused the oil to leak out. Stripped the gears, fortunately it was still under warranty at that time.

2. Mopar break parts suck ass. I used a combination of Wagner rotors and Monroe pads.

3. Key fobs are printed circuits that tend to wear easily and result in loss of range and keyless functions.

4. Bumping tail pipes with trailer necks results in popped manifold bolts.

5. Courtesy and indicator l.e.d.s on mirror had to be constantly changed.

6. Leather on the bucket seats tear easily if you have a fat ass like mine and are too lazy to lift yourself out rather than sliding out.

7. Leather on steering wheel started to strip from too much palming.

8. Brake bulb in centre lamp kept going. (never figured that one out).

9. Recirc door can break easily.

10. Evaporator core developed a leak at 165,000km.

Overall the truck performed extremely well, and did everything I asked of it. 175,000 hard working km in 3 years and the only major issues were the diff. problem and the ac issue at the end. Any other issues were cosmetic.

That looks like a beautiful truck. The '09-'10 trucks are rather issue free.
I can't see a single option that truck DOESN'T have.

The price sounds about right in my mind, but I've never priced them out.
Check out NADA and KBB to get a baseline.
