Here are some pictures from the car show yesterday. My youngest brought his car, so we had 3 generations showing. Funny enough we were laughing about how you never see a 71-72 Grand Prix at a show and a 71 showed up lol. His was a J model like my grandpas. I swear my youngest car got most of the attention lol. So the Grand Prix has 8x,*** original miles on it.

I also got the wheels cleaned up and coated with Undrdog Pro+ and top coat. The fender Z emblems are removed as well. I polished the area behind them with Koch Chemie C0.02. Waiting for that to cure so I can add my new Z emblems and my Nickey badges. Looks like the rest of my decals will be here this week. Same with my display.

Well paint mods started today. Silver and chevy orange I know, but trying to stay period correct to the muscle car era of the 60s and early 70s I went with GM orange. The original brochure from 2002 came today. I took a stroll down memory lane. I last held one in October of 01. I was at the state fair and the 35th anniversary cars were being given away. I grabbed several brochures and the different picture pages were all over my wall. Granted I was driving a low mile 90 GT Foxbody at the time. I couldn't afford one back then. I was a broke college age kid. Im still waiting for a whole bunch more stuff to arrive. Hopefully it all gets here this week.

Valve covers are back on and I started installing new emblems. I will snap pictures once they all get here. Hoping they make it here this week.

That must’ve been a joy! I don’t know if it’s the same part, but that hood seal really did a number on the backs of my hand when doing headers, coil packs and wires! AFTER I was done bleeding, I read to remove it before doing work! I think it has about 25-30 mounting pins underneath!

Looks great!

I considered doing a color match on intake and head covers! I just want to get the “go” done before the “show”! My paint job really needs a cut and polish!

Always go before show lol. Yes my arms and hands are all nice and cut up. The way the motor sits back makes it tough. If you do decide to go with a cut and polish, check your paint with a paint gauge. Just so you know if you have any thin spots.

I appreciate the heads up! I don’t have the patience for that…my brother is a long-time body man! His son, my nephew that bought my house, now has a nice heated garage to do any work that needs doing! I’m carrying some of the mortgage…one or two payments will go far to the work, exterior AND interior!

Yes, it definitely takes a special kind of talent to do that.

Update: I got the car just about where I want it minus the wheels. Added a few emblems and decals. Tomorrow I am fingers crossing the inspection gods are with me. I have to get it inspected lol. It will pass as long as they dont look under the car and see the long tubes. All of my lights and bulbs are working and it has a front plate back on it. Yes its zip tied to the grill and yes I have painters tape on the bumper so it doesn't scratch the paint. Once I get that done, hopefully Tuesday they have processed my personalized plates and that I can go get those. I played around with the tune and I have it idling better. It does not like the cam at all. I will probably just take it to a shop near me and let them dial it in on a dyno.

Converters and O2 sensors still intact? Inspection shouldn't be an issue. When safety inspections cease 1/1/25, you'll still have to submit to emissions testing due to your location.

It passed no issues. You just never know if they are going to be picky.

Well after jumping up early and getting her inspected, I called the Downtown DMV where our plates were. They were ready. I wasn't thinking first of the month, so that took almost 2 hours to get them and a tag lol. Oh well wife is super happy with them. More updates to come!

Well I had plans to do some work on today and tomorrow, but the wife ended up in the ER this morning. She maybe having surgery next week, so the car is on the back burner right now until we get all of that sorted out.
