I'm sure this question has come up before.

I want to replace my oem tires for my '14 v6 3.6 with 3.21 gears. The thing is great on gas and I would like to keep it that way. I have been looking at lighter tires so I'm leaning towards p rated (came with the truck) but I also want something that will last a long time.

I picked the michelin ltx at2 265 70 r17. But again, unsure on p rated or lt.

My question is, has anyone ran lt's on their v6 before? Were they too heavy? Did they cut your mileage? Also, did the lt's last longer?

Thanks.

I just got new tires on my 14 v6 regular cab. I went with the Toyo Open Country AT2 in p-rated. They can handle anything I may throw at them, and they are lighter. The LT counterpart was like 70lb a piece. I dont need all that extra weight, now would I ever be using the actual full potential of a tire that beefy. I also did not want to be running a full 12.5" tire, while it looks cool, I think it could be of some strain. And these are rated at 2600lbs a tire, I think that is more then enough.

What do you primarily use your truck for? If as a grocery and rug rat hauler, then you can get away with P tires. LT tires are rated to take the margins of hauling at capacity. If you intend to do that, stick with the LT tires.

Thanks guys. I do haul about once a month but nothing at capacity, maybe 3000 lbs at most, p rated would take that. My answer may have been answered for me. Some ford trucks with the fx4 package come with the same p rated tires I'm after oem. The guys who buy aftermarket rims and wheels get rid of them on the cheap. I found some used in my area only 10 000 miles for 300$ for all 4. I'll go look at them and see how they do.

I appreciate the input. The weight was bothersome, I think I'll stick with the p's for now.
