*No pics but i can add them later

So today i went to replace the map lights to leds. Pop the plastic cap, Put in the led on the driver side and test it to see if it works, it does but i put in the wrong color led, take it out and put in the one with color i wanted and low n behold it no longer turns on.

Here comes kicker: in my troubleshooting the problem i must have touched the little white tab that makes it click on and off into that whole overhead assembly. Since that little tab is no longer there i cant click the light on and off (it doesnt even turn on anyways when the door is opened), so could the tab not being in place caused the led not to work anymore?

Fyi, passenger side led works as it should either by clicking it or door opened, and yes i have tried different leds on the driver side including the oem and it still doesnt work.

Before i take off the whole thing apart tomorrow, what should i look for to try to get the driver side led to work? Fuses? Clean the area where the led connects?

Thank you

I tried to induce the issue by holding the switch up while opening and closing the door. I could not get the LED to stop working.

That rules out that the tab is jammed in there.

Maybe the switch got pushed out.

Sorry for the dumb question, did you try reversing the bulb?

Take a look at the working side. Be careful so you don't take the working side out as well. See if you can see any difference between em. Maybe something dropped out and you missed it. I've done the led swap a few times. Check the cap see if the tab is broken.

I have a similar issue for many months and no clue. Rear light works when doors are open but not the front lights. But if you push them they each come on.[emoji15][emoji21]

My light in the rear seat won't come on. But if I turn the map on it will. Need to get the one with canvas in it.

By tab do you mean the one on the plastic one on the clear plastic you push in? Or the white little plastic tab that attaches to the overhead part?

Ill get some pics later and point out

Pics would be best. I know you said you that they are reversible bit you should reverse it anyway if you haven't already. Also put in the wrong colored bulb to see if it still works.

Ive done all that. The leds ive tested them both on the passenger side and they work no matter which way you insert them

I am not so sure on that. WHEN I put the LED's in MY 19, they only "worked" one way. SO U got those paper thin wires also that look like bent paper clips? What a sorry *** way to make a bulb housing instead of a standard push in socket. Fuses??? I do not know if a separate fuse works on either side of those lights like how the trailer running lights R. That would be something U have to research. Missing/Loose tab??? Hmmmm? My thought would be, U have to friggin shape/bend them sorry *** paper clip metal brackets to accept bulb. Make sure both sides are getting contact at the correct place. MAYBE use 12V tester and see if there is any Power at the socket? Now if a separate fuse works each side, then maybe U grounded and blew fuse. Friggin CANBUS in these electronic "marvels" are so sensitive. Just a few thoughts of a rambling on BOIRD. GL on yer issue.

I was thinking that i bent something because thenother side works. If is a fuse inwould thinknit would be just 1 fuse that handles both sides. Im leaning toward i bent that metal clip youre talking about and it no longer makes contact. How doni go about fixing it?

U got to go and bend it back to the proper position to have tension and make contact on both sides of the bulbs to insure continuity. AND, MY LED bulbs do not work put in either way. THEY only work put in 1 side/way.

Yes, you can remove both the black interior bezel and/or the beige/gray surrounding bezel. I know the black bezel removes from the windshield side first. Use auto trim removal tools as the plastic is soft.

Can you fix the switch that got pushed out? I replaced the bulbs last night and now I can’t get them to work.
