Nav Maps i know about, Nav Maps are upgraded once or twice a year
There used to be a Bulletin at every Dodge dealership, it read that a customer should only update the maps every 3 or so years.
The reason is NEW Roads are built very seldom
The second part of the maps is the attractions & businesses, which are updated with every map change
Would you pay $147+ every year to find out that Starbucks changed addresses
Who ever owns those satellites In conjunction with Google each decide when to make a new set of maps
Nokia has been buying the satellite downloads
They supply the maps that were used in Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, i don't know if they will continue that practice with Stelantis.
Anyway, Nokia owns Navigation com & further down the line a company called HELP com & ever further down the chain is WEGO com
Somewhere in the chain, the data downloaded from the satellite is downloaded to readable language & that has to transferred to software that will work in vehicles, somewhere in there, the date from GOOGLE is combined with the satellite date.
When all that is said & done, they print out CDs
.....................
Before i buy a new Map CD, i phone the number on the Navigation site & ask about when the last edition was produced & when we can expect to see the new Edition.
I absolutely need Road Maps & i carry the latest edition Map book that you can find at most Truck Stops.
I try to use my laptop to find a address & print it out before i leave my place
I don't have time for a Smart Phone, so i just have a cell phone
Someone needs to call me, they can use their voices, i don't have time for Texting
So i definitely need a large screen that is easy to use & the Nav in my Ram i can speak to & get a fairly quick response.
I also punch in the address before i leave my place, but all too often, the dispatcher does not use the correct suffix with the street name,
ie: Street, Ave, Lane, Extension, east, west, etc.
I recently bought a Truckers GPS & when i return to work, it will be mounted, it does have Lifetime Maps & Traffic.

There was a comment post above, they mentioned support being pulled on an old Chevy, due to age
Maps are always available, even though the radio software updates to fix flaws may end
