I might suck at searching, but I was unable to find my question in any of the existing threads.

I have a 2016 Ram 1500 with 20" chrome clad wheels with P275/60R20 tires.
I haven't examined my spare yet, but since I am looking to upsize my tires, I am wondering what is the maximum tire size that will fit into the stock (under the bed) spare tire carrier?

Thanks,
Oliver

you should be able to fit a 35" tire. depending on the brand, you might have to let some air out to get it all the way up.

Are you certain of this? I just got two VERY different answers. :doh2:

I've read that there is an issue with the retainer for the spare tire winch not fitting through the hub hole on other than stock spare rims. Since there have been some workarounds posted (either fabbing a steel plate or grinding the existing one) I am not concerned with wheel size for this question (or am I?).
I imagine there is only a total tire diameter constraint.

My spare is not a temp spare and is the same tire as the other 4 on my truck.
With that said I have around a 1.5" all the way around my spare before it hits anything.
Spare is a 265/70/17 around 31.6" tall.

i havent heard anything about this, could be possible though. if it were me, i would either keep the 17" wheel and get a tire with the same outer diameter, or get a spare 20" steel wheel from a 3rd gen and get a matching tire.
