Anyone make the jump? I have a 2016 with 6.4 and having a hard time getting my transmission fixed. I'm honestly considering trading it in for either an 8speed 6.4 or just get a new/or used truck with the Cummins.

I use it as a work truck and haul 1000 plus pounds of tools everyday and pull a dump trailer regularly. The current 6.4 does fine but not great. I went to 35" tires and it's less than fine now. I no longer use 6th gear.

Looking at fuel mileage numbers. I thought about a new ford but they are just so high on price. All the local shops act like the 66rfe is a redheaded step child of transmissions and dont want to work on it.

Right now I average 9-10 around town and 11-13 highway.

I’m averaging 13 mpg over the last 1000 miles driven, it’s a 6.4 with the 8 speed. That’s with no weight in the bed and a light foot on the peddle.

In tow mode you'll never get to 6th gear. 1-5 tow mode out of it 2-6 gear.

All depends if I can keep my foot out of it an make the hills right. 2015 2500 short box now a 2019 2500 long box both 4x4 no differences

I bought my 2018 last May and averaging 11.3 with about 80% of my driving being 1-2 mile trips in town. I get about 16.5-17.0 on the highway at about 65-70 MPH. I have the 4.10's. My son has the exact same truck and towing his 7500lb camper with about 1000lbs in the truck he gets about 8.5-9 MPG.

These are accurate numbers since I bought the truck 6000 miles ago.

Just talked to my son. He has been driving about 1500 miles a week in his. Leaves Pittsburgh and drives to New Hampshire and back each week. He said he just filled his up and his EVIC read 17.2 MPG on this tank. Based on my experience that would be about 16.7-16.8 hand calculated but I'm sure he was probably doing about 70-75 MPH most of the way. He has put about 28,000 miles on his since he got it the end of July 2018

Your question is general. I have. 2015 ram mega cab with a 6.4 hemi and a 6 speed. In suburban driving in moderate traffic I avg 9 to 10 MPG and on the highway at 70 MPH I avg 14 to 16 MPG I live in Pennsylvania and our terrain is quite hilly. When I pull my 10,000 lb trailer I avg 8.0 to 8. 5. At 55 to 65 MPH. I consider this decent considering. A diesel Ram is only getting 12 mPG in the same environment **** the same job. Just think we did not spend the extra 10 grand for the diesel option.
