How many cylinders does the MDS disable? 2 or 4?

In my 2010 the Tow/Haul mode disabled the MDS and locked the engine in 8 cylinder. Is this the case with the 2013? My manual only speaks to it makning the transmission shift more efficiently under load?

I disabled MDS using a tuner, run all 8 all the time

Tow/haul will disable mds. So will putting her in "manual" shifting mode, if you set it to the 6th gear it will shift up through the gears normally without mds ever kicking in.

Really... just curious, how do you know? Have you tried it and heard MDS kick in?

Is this true? So if I shift to 6th its the same as 'D' without MDS and without skipping 3rd?

It will just act like D, im not sure if it will skip 3rd or not though

Yes. I turned it on and off driving down the expressway and it didn't do anything to the mds. I also had it on towing my dad's boat and at low speeds the mds still kicked in.

IMO I think MDS is a complete gimmick!!! I have disabled it with my tuner and I now get better milage than when it was enabled, about 1.5 MPG better! The truck also drives much smoother.

I have played with mine manually selecting 8th gear to disable it, I usually lose 1 to 2 MPG's with it off.

I also loose about 1-2 mpgs.
