I had to take my 2021 to the dealer due to the MGU whining and then I found out the massive issue that Ram is having with this part. I only wish that I had researched this as much as I had the other things I had before I purchased the Ram My truck went to the shop the day after Labor Day and no date has been given for replacement and as of Wednesday 5,200 were on back order and the dealers cant even place an order for them AS soon as I get it fixed I am dumping this junk because I doubt that this fixes the problem (screwed in Georgia)

You have a decent excuse, it was two years young when you bought your ram. Sadly, there is about to be a wave of hemi e-torque fails when the new Rams start being sold, and those guys aren't going to have any good excuse. Quick search proves this should not be in a hemi ram. Stellantis is a foreign company stubborn as all foreign companies. The new CEO from ground zero with green scamola educated in Milan and Bazil. They will ruin the v8 one way or the other, it is their self inflicted mandate, and anyone who trusts them gets what they get. Maybe it will work out, maybe not, but you have to be a blind fool to blindly trust stellantis. It is in fact a junk bond, trades now like 7-8 bucks a share, lol. There is no longer a big 3, unless you consider toyota the 3, which is really the 1, but whatever. When the stock market tells you what they think about your product, consumers should take note, if not that's on you.

Mine started going bad mid November. Dealer told me the MGU was on back order, but they placed the order. Then I got an update saying they would have it in hand on December 8th. I checked in on December 9th, and not only did it never get delivered, but the order status was changed to "Supplier Past Due". My service advisor told me to call RamCare, which I did. It took two days for the case to be opened (12/11). The MGU was expedited and was delivered to the dealer yesterday. That is 3 business days from the case being opened.

I highly recommend opening a case with RamCare to anyone waiting for a new MGU.

In typical RAM fashion, my exhaust manifolds are also cracked and being replaced.

Have you seen this new MGU? And, when is it scheduled for installation?

Please keep us posted and congrats on the quick resolution.

That’s certainly not typical. Involving RamCare did little to expedite things for me with the RF hub. In fact all it really did was to make sure the cracked rear window was replaced under warranty. Which was the root cause of the RF hub failure.

It’s great for you if you really do get this taken care of the span of about a week’s time.

I did not physically see the MGU, but I dropped the truck off last night, and they are working on it already. New MGU, MGU tensioner arm and tensioner, new belt, new exhaust manifolds, gaskets and bolts. It will be ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon. All covered under the extended and 8/80,000 warranties.

I even got an email from RamCare giving me the same update. Overall, I am pretty happy with the process and the outcome.

We don't hear too many stories like yours. Congrats for the a lucky and unusual break.

Looking forward to the update after you collect your repaired truck.

Well, I got the call from the dealer. MGU is replaced, but the "tech" broke two of the driver's side exhaust manifold bolts off in the block. He is a half a day behind now, and still has to do the passenger side. Service is closed on Saturday's, and the "tech" is off on Monday due to some family issue. My truck will be ready on Tuesday afternoon.

I knew things were going too well.

You realize that your truck would have been finished today if you hadn't come in here bragging about getting your replacement part so quickly. You must now pay the failure to knock on wood tax. :Big Laugh: :Big Laugh: :Big Laugh:

Sorry it took so long for my reply. Picked up my truck the Tuesday before Christmas. No more whining or exhaust tick. Took it on a 1,400 mile road trip over the holidays and it ran great. Overall I’m happy with the whole experience.

No matter how well it runs, that 392 rear end drinks gas.

Just FYI, the 321 rear eats fuel too. More of a SKINNY Pedal issue, what speed you R traveling and road/weather conditions.
NE thing over 70 MPH and fuel will drop 2-5 mpg. Just saying.

I can get shy over 20 mpg on mine at highway, 70 MPH average or lower with CC on.
Go up to 75-85 mph, and it drops to 16-18 mpg, with CC on.

Congrats on getting your ride fixed to your satisfaction well, and in a Great Time Frame. Makes you a Unicorn ref service results.

With 3.92's and a soft pedal, and 60mph I can run at 20-25 mpg depending on terrain. Towing heavy through Cal. at 55/60 I get about 12/13. Its all about the 6000# shape of a brick. These trucks really are tuned for the best mpg there going to git, depending on the driver.

I drove Chicago to Mechanicsburg, PA and back. No wind to help push me there. 40mph headwinds and snow on the way home. Over the Allegheny Mountains each way and a side trip through Gettysburg. On the highways I usually set my cruise 9mph over the limit, so I was anywhere from 70-80 mph. For the whole trip I averaged 17.8mpg.

Yup, those numbers bout right.@Millenium: You would have gotten close to 20 but anything over 70 MPH these Hemi's drop mpg's down to 17-18MPG, been my experience in my 2019, cause heading South on IH 35 towards Austin nobody runs under 80 mph.
I went from TX to NC to NJ to DE to NC to TX. Lil over 4000 miles. Averaged just lil over 21.2 mpg on SRA'S.
CAVEAT: I did get rid of them and run Falkens now, which cost me 1 to 1 1/2 mpg.
CC as much as possible usual traffic issues around Baltimore, DE, NJ. I did, coming back to TX stop in Atlantic City, than over the Twin Bridges to Aunt in DE. But going South as soon as I could I headed west, avoid the whole crazy 495 BS, to jump on 81 South. Few more miles, but not crazy traffic, so that may have helped on overall mpg. MPG hand calculated from Fuel receipts all added up with mileage noted.
SUMMARY: Very happy with truck overall. 5600-over 6000 lb rolling computer depending upon options, U really cannot complain on 17-20 ish MPG and performance. All IMHO.

Little tidbit for you, you'll get better milege using your foot then you will with cruise control. The computor uses differant programing for the cruise side of things, and if you can drive anywhere decently, you'll pull down better milege with your foot.

New here. Just wanted to say that my ‘22 1500 5.7 etorque was screaming at 48k. I had the tensioner replaced and took it to the dealer because that only made it louder. They told me the MGU needed replaced. This was on 1/12/26. They said the estimated arrival date was 2/5/26. They had expedited the order.
I called Ramcare on 1/19/26 and they said that is all they can do and they would cover a rental at a max of $60/day. There was no cap. So I rented a car on 1/19/26 and waited.
The part arrived at my dealer on 2/5/26 as was estimated and they had it installed within an hour or two of it arriving. I took my rental back and picked up my truck the same day and went out of town in it the following day. There are no problems to date and I have put about 1000 miles on it.
I sent Ramcare my invoice from the dealer, my invoice from the rental place, and a copy of my credit card statement. They contacted me very quickly to confirm my information and on 2/24/26 they said my check was in the mail. Today, 3/6/26 I got a check for $1020.
Now, for whatever reason, my total at the rental place was $1106.70, so I did not get reimbursed the full amount, but I’m only out $86.70 so I’m not going to complain about it.
I was out of my truck less than a month and it cost me 87 bucks. Do what I did. Have it expedited and if you’re under warranty you’ll be fine. Now I’m just hoping this one lasts till 80k-90k so I can trade it on on something reliable!
