How many miles does it take on average (on a 45* - 50* day) before your temp gauge indicated warm? (just under 50%)

It takes mine almost 10 miles. The thermostat is working properly, all the hoses are getting hot like they should eventually. But this truck is takes the longest out of every vehicle I've ever owned to warm up.

2003 4.7L sitck.

Its been around 50 degrees in orlando this winter/spring and it took about 5 or so miles before my teuck started running at 190 on mt aftermarket gauge. Whenever I start my truck I usually have the gauge go straight to the middle no matter what temperature it is it will always go straight their

I believe the 4.7 and 5.7 get the same radiator?
That's a lot more coolant to warm up for a smaller engine.
We take cardboard and block part of the grill on our vehicles when it gets below freezing here in Oklahoma. At least my family does.

If I don't use my remote start, mine takes about 3-4 mins before it gets warm enough for warm air to blow out of the heater. That's driving about 10 mph up my dirt road for 1/4 mile and then 25-30 mph on the paved county road. Roughly 2 miles and it's getting warm and off the needle stop a little ways.

Mine has a sealed system, does the 5.7 also? If not it is different than the 4.7.

they have different radiators.
what you might be seeing is your engine warms up to 210 and then the tstat opens up and puts the cool coolant from the radiator in the block.

I think its more how much time than miles. I tend to notice that the faster I drive the faster it warms up. I hate when I have to do it that way, ex. starting her up and jumping on the highway immediately. In most cases just normal driving around will heat her up in a few min.

My 5.7L HEMI takes about 4 miles on the Interstate highway and about 10 miles while driving in town. I start it up and let it run until the idle settles approx.. 1 minute before putting it in gear and driving. Stock radiator and t-stat.
