Asking the pros. What combo do you use for wash, wax, etc.

I should be picking up my new 2010 2500 tomorrow, I want to give her a loving welcome!

Car washing is right up there with oil changes. Everyone has an opinion.

I use Meguires Car shampoo (orange gel)
Their Ultimate or Gold Class wax is a great single step product.

I would go ahead and clay it as well. It will help take all the contaminants from travel, and lot sitting off of truck. You can get duragloss soap from CARQUEST, or some Napa stores.

Surf City Garage has some really nice products both on the Retail side and Professional Surface Care side that I think you will like. I have been using the SCG Professional Extreme Suds Balanced Wash for 5 months now. It's the foamiest, sudsiest, clingiest car soap I have used. Smells great, and is pH neutral so it won't strip your paint.

For protection, SCG Pro has a product called, Hydro Seal. It goes on easy, lasts a few months, and provides excellent protection. It should be available again here pretty shortly.

Congrats on the new truck!

Is it going to be a daily driver? Parked in the garage at night, or will it live it's life outside?

Daily driver, 10 miles.
Weekend, RV pulling. 50+ miles

She will live outside. We have 4 seasons here.

Look into sealants then. I like SPNS(Sonax Polymer Netshield) It is pretty awesome stuff.

I like this idea.

Do you clay first, then wax then apply this product?

What soap do you use to not remove this product from the vehicle ?

I would say since its new, I would just clay, then wash the truck to make sure you get all the clay stuff off of it. Then apply it to vehicle, you don't need to wax or anything after it either. It kind of works like a wax. I just use duragloss soap. If you just get a good quality soap, then it wont hurt. You can search online for the SPNS, and find it for roughly $10 cheaper in certain stores. Can't remember exactly which one.

Wash it, clay it, then apply a sealant like Liquid Paint Sealant.

It offers great protection (4+ months in the worst of conditions), is incredibly easy to use by hand or with a machine, and gives the gloss and depth that typically is only reserved for quality waxes.

Adding a wax with a sealant isn't a must-do, but it certainly won't hurt your cause. Apply the wax over the sealant to give more gloss and add an another layer of protection on top of the sealant.

Nick's process is spot on---products might vary but the process and the steps he suggests will serve you well.
