Started the truck. Heard plastic gears grinding under the dash and lost the mode door (defrosters only). I'm hoping it is simply the actuator, but that is another story.
The old (broken) actuator motor is running continuously. Before I spend time and money on replacing the actuator or/and door, I want to make sure there isn't a repeat performance because the actual problem is the motor not shutting off in the open or closed position.
Is running continuously normal for a freewheeling motor?
How are the motors regulated and how do they "know" where to stop without simply running till something breaks?
Thanks.
