My list of modifications go something like this and will run me right in the 5000.00 range

Colour matched one piece fibreglass tonneau cover 2300.00
Bug deflector 100.00
Bed extender 300.00
Black tube steps (matches truck) 454.00
Mud flaps 100.00
MagnaFlow exhaust 850.00
C.A.I 350.00
Rust Proofing 400.00
Spray liner 500.00

Oops 5300.00 plus install on some of those prices. I am having everything done at the dealer as that is how I roll, piece of mind and all you see. I know I could piece everything on the internet but I avoided all that trouble for a price, the parts girl at my dealer is just wonderful and is doing all the ordering for me. Crazy maybe but then again are any of us really sane:favorites13: I am hoping this will all be installed by the end of Aug, moving out of town into a brand new house.

Prices don't seem too out of line except for the fiberglass cover, that price is crazy. 2 years ago I had a color matching full camper style fiberglass cover put on a Colorado and it was about $1100 installed.

Save couple hundred on exhaust and get a mufflex magnaflow kit, the pipe in the catback is same size as stock, with bigger tips, gives you roughly 400 to put towards other mods

Prices look good! Just had my VIS SRT style hood painted on the Magnum, $600 cash no receipt so paint is expensive. I would suggest you get better flaps unless that $100 is for an Oem Molded set (then my apologies). Perhaps look at a set of Gator Flaps abput 160-200 a pair and they are pretty tough and seem to be unique to the North. Trucks gonna be sweet! Danny

"Aboot" since he lives in Canada, eh?

haha, i think they only use "aboot" on the east coast..when i talk to my clients there, almost sounds like some of them are in ireland or scotland.

Newfies and Bayman on the east coast n that's what they are all about.
No worse than Americans calling a roof a ruff lol.
Shop in the USA for your box cover and save a few hundred and just put the Magnaflow muffler on it.

actually in my experience we all say aboot but it's not as noticeable without the newfie accent

the ruff thing drives me nuts, sounds so weird every time i hear it

Where are you located? You can typically save a lot more on parts by shipping them to a border storage place and driving across and picking them up, but that depends on where you are located of course. It's a 7hr round trip, 2.5 tanks of gas, plus the 5% GSt for me but when you look at shipping costs and brokerage fees or the Canadian parts dealer's markups it still comes out less in many cases.

That said, those prices are in line with what I'd expect to pay at the dealership except the tonneau, that's about $1K more than I'd expect for a color matched hard cover, and you can save some money by having a muffler shop weld in a muffler and y-pipe instead of buying the full exhaust kit that still doesn't do anything about the stock y-pipe.

Lotsa replies neat. Tomorrow I am taking the truck in for roughly half the modifications I purchased ie the exhaust, the bed extender, the step tubes and the catch can. Getting there.

nah he'll get nailed pretty hard at the border with that much stuff. not sure what province he's in but he'll get both federal and provincial sales tax which in Ontario is 13% total. one thing he could do if he's within driving distance is get it shipped to one of those storage places then get everything or at least the more expensive parts installed in the US. it's usually best to come back at a different crossing tho. also it's best not to have the receipt on you, toss it if you not worried about returning or if you wanna have it just mail it back to yourself

I've never been hit with PST/HST when I was moving stuff across the BC border, it's always just been the 5% and I always claim everything since I'm a Nexus holder and it's not worth losing that to save a hundred bucks. I can't say anything about getting service across the border since I do all my own work

if you are entering a province where sales tax is still separate you only get GST. provinces with HST get nailed for both since the taxes are merged. for Ontario it's simply not worth it. even going to Michigan for christmas shopping isn't worth it anymore unless you don't spend enough to get taxed or get lucky since you pay 6% sales tax there then another 13% when you cross the border

Ah, that makes more sense. BC separated their HST so it's not an issue anymore. HST was the worst idea ever, but that's for a different thread. Actually, PST is a bad idea, that's why I love Alberta.
