Guys, I've just found out that the ST knock sensor on my tuner or my truck isn't very accurate. Also, I've read that hard shifts or the vibration of the dip stick can give you a false knock reading. My questions are, is there a way to "reset" the sensor to make it more accurate? Is there another way to monitor ST knock? Is ST knock even worth monitoring?

Thanks for the help,
Jay

ST Knock is common with the Hemi, some are lucky to log nothing. Most of us will log upto 5* on a shift and/or wot. An easy way to determine if it's false Knock is the rate of decay. The pcm will only adjust the timing back at a rate of .8* a second. If it rises fast and falls fast it's false. If it builds over the rpm range, then you might have a problem.
The knock sensors on our trucks can only be monitored with the laptop program, that I know of. They can be desensitized in a custome tune.
Knock can happen for a few reasons. Yes, if the oil tube was bent for headers it could be hitting/vibrating against the header under load. Loose mid pipes, exhaust leak, bad gas for the tune/ incorrect octane. Piston problems, over timing, too cold of spark plug, etc

Thanks for the info man, that's exactly what its doing. It will shoot up to 5* and back to 0 quickly. The only reason I notice it is that it show up on the highest value of the gauge. I also sent HF a datalog and he confirmed that it was inaccurate knock. I was just thinking that it's useless to monitor it if its going to be a false reading anyway.
