I have that same side step on my truck, I have noticed that it does get slippery when it gets wet, maybe its the shoes that I am wearing. Have you noticed that?

Same here, but it seems as though some running boards have the ends turned in a bit which is how mine are. The slight turn in gives about 1" of clearance.
