I noticed lately my truck feels like the throttle response is better when AC is on. Truck is 13, 1500 5.7 with bullydog canned premium gas tune with mds off, and just a drop in k&N filter + catch can. I haven't used Air Conditioning until this past week when temps hit 90. But there is a difference when AC is on, vs off with throttle feel, peddle has less resistance and makes truck feel like it has more power. Might just be the more sensitive throttle gives feel of more power, but there is a big difference. AC off, can feel peddle resistance, granted it's still good, but when AC is on, feels like I added a throttle controller, really smooth, so smooth I really don't feel much if any resistance. Truck has in the 40k miles range, all maint is done, new plugs, pcv, tranny fluid, gear fluid, throttle cleaned etc, nothing is left to do. Normally on vehicles I feel a difference when AC is on like less power. Just found this kind of odd.

I'm gonna say it's all in your head. Yes, the AC does draw some power but on an engine as powerful as Hemi the difference between running with AC on and AC off is negligible.

On a completely unrelated note... you're the first person I've run into on here who is also running the BullyDog tuner. I'm running the "regular" canned tune on mine, plus Airaid intake and flowmaster muffler. Can you really tell a difference between the regular and premium canned tunes? What's your fuel mileage like?

Mileage is about same as without a tune. I went straight to high octane tune, need to still try the regular. I'm thinking with ac on, the throttle is more sensitive, there is a difference, less peddle resistance. The other night I switched back and forth with ac off and on, each time I could tell. Normally on vehicles I can feel ac come on etc, found it odd with the Ram honestly feels better with ac on. My 05 hemi Durango feels no different if anything can feel the AC come on and off, was thinking maybe the peddle resistance changes when AC on to smooth out the feel by computer, dunno.

What made you guys choose bully dog over Diablo? Are you happy with your tuners and the performance? Was it noticeable?

Thanks and sorry for the thread jack.

not saying this happens in your truck because A) i'm not super familiar with the platform yet and B) i don't know how your tune is set up

but

most factory vehicles with factory tunes will slightly raise the idle speed and/or other parameters while the compressor is engaged. you may be sensing the fact that there is already some throttle built into your idle and it may be feel like it comes off the line quicker for that reason.
